Managing your Shopify account

You can manage your Shopify account by logging into your Shopify account, or from the Shopify admin of a store that's connected to your account. Your Shopify account has the following two pages:

  • The General page contains settings for your account details, such as name and email, and Shopify admin preferences, such as language.
  • The Security page contains account security settings. You can manage security settings, such as recovery codes and two-step authentication, on the Security page of your Shopify account. Learn more about security settings for you Shopify account.

You can perform the following actions from the General page of your Shopify account:

Update your Shopify account details

You can update your Shopify account details from the Details section of the General page of your Shopify account. You can upload or edit a profile photo, update your first name, last name, or email address, and add or update a phone number.

The following account details are required:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email

The following account details are optional:

  • Profile photo
  • Phone number

The phone number and email address in your Shopify account isn't the same as the customer facing phone number or email in stores connected to your account. To edit the contact details in a Shopify store connected to your account, refer to Managing store details.

Steps:

Desktop
  1. From your Shopify admin, click your store name in the topbar.

  2. Click Manage account.

  3. In the Details section, update any of the following details:

  • To add or replace your profile picture, click Upload photo.
  • To update your first name, last name, or both, enter a new name in the appropriate field. Your first and last name should match your government-issued ID.
  1. Click Save.
iPhone
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section, update any of the following details:
  • To add or replace your profile picture, tap Upload photo.
  • To update your first name, last name, or both, enter a new name in the appropriate field. Your first and last name should match your government-issued ID.
  1. Tap Save.
Android
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section, update any of the following details:
  • To add or replace your profile picture, tap Upload photo.
  • To update your first name, last name, or both, enter a new name in the appropriate field. Your first and last name should match your government-issued ID.
  1. Tap Save.

Update your email address

Your account email address is the email address that you used to sign up for Shopify. Use this email address to log in to your Shopify account.

If you're the store owner, or have a role with the store View billing and receive billing emails,then this is the email address that you use to log in to the Shopify admin. This email address is used to contact you about your Shopify account, and is separate from the store email address that your customers use to contact you.

Bills are emailed to the Shopify account email of the store owner, organization owner and to any users who have the store View billing and receive billing emails permission, or the organization Billing permission.

To change the email address that you use to log in to your Shopify admin or to receive bills, you need to update your Shopify account email. Your email address is updated for all the stores that are linked to your Shopify account.

Steps:

Desktop
  1. From your Shopify admin, click your store name in the topbar.

  2. Click Manage account.

  3. In the Details section next to your email address, click Update.

  4. In the Verify your password dialog, enter your current password and then click Next.

  5. In the New email field, enter your new email address.

  6. Click Change email.

iPhone
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section next to your email address, tap Update.
  5. In the Verify your password dialog, enter your current password and then tap Next.
  6. In the New email field, enter your new email address.
  7. Tap Change email.
Android
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section next to your email address, tap Update.
  5. In the Verify your password dialog, enter your current password and then tap Next.
  6. In the New email field, enter your new email address.
  7. Tap Change email.

Add, edit, or remove a phone number

You can add an optional phone number to your Shopify account.

  • To add a phone number, click Add. Select your country code, and then enter your phone number. To update your phone number, click Update. Click Remove to remove the photo.
Desktop
  1. From your Shopify admin, click your store name in the topbar.

  2. Click Manage account.

  3. In the Details section next to the phone number field, do any of the following:

  • To add a phone number:
    1. Click Add.
    2. In the Add phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Click Add.
  • To update a phone number:
    1. Click Update.
    2. In the Update phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Click Update.
  • To remove a phone number:
    1. Click Remove.
    2. In the Remove phone number dialog, click Remove.
  1. Click Save.
iPhone
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section next to the phone number field, do any of the following:
  • To add a phone number:
    1. Tap Add.
    2. In the Add phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Tap Add.
  • To update a phone number:
    1. Tap Update.
    2. In the Update phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.

  • To remove a phone number:
    1. Tap Remove.
    2. In the Remove phone number dialog, tap Remove.
  1. Tap Save.
Android
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Details section next to the phone number field, do any of the following:
  • To add a phone number:
    1. Tap Add.
    2. In the Add phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Tap Add.
  • To update a phone number:
    1. Tap Update.
    2. In the Update phone number dialog, select your country code, and then enter your phone number.
    3. Tap Update.
  • To remove a phone number:
    1. Tap Remove.
    2. In the Remove phone number dialog, tap Remove.
  1. Tap Save.

Update your timezone

You can update your timezone in the Timezone section. This timezone setting applies to your Shopify account.

To set the timezone for a store that's connected to your Shopify account, go to the Settings > General page in the store's Shopify admin. Learn more about updating your store's timezone.

Desktop
  1. From your Shopify admin, click your store name in the topbar.

  2. Click Manage account.

  3. In the Timezone section, select a timezone from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Save.

iPhone
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Timezone section, select a timezone from the drop-down menu.
  5. Tap Save.
Android
  1. From the Shopify app, tap your store icon.
  2. Tap your username and email address.
  3. Tap Manage account.
  4. In the Timezone section, select a timezone from the drop-down menu.
  5. Tap Save.
