If you've bought a domain from, you must reconfigure your DNS settings to point the domain at your Shopify-hosted storefront.

Set up your domain with

Make sure that you've added your custom domain by clicking Connect existing domain on the Domains page of your Shopify admin.

To set up your domain with

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. In the Domain section, click DomainCentral:

  3. Click the name of your domain in the My Domains section:

  4. Click the DNS tab:

  5. In the Modify drop-down-menu, select CNAME Alias:

  6. Enter www in the Host text box, and shops.myshopify.comCopy in the Points To text box.

  7. Click Add.

  8. On the same page, select A Record from the Modify drop-down-menu:

  9. In the A Record table, find the row with your domain name and select Edit from the drop-down-menu:

  10. Enter Shopify's IP address in the text box:

  11. Click Save.

  12. Click Verify connection in your Shopify admin to confirm that your custom domain has been connected to your store.

It can take up to 48 hours for changes to take effect.


If you are unable to edit your DNS records from within your domain provider's admin section, then you must contact support.
