Set up your domain with Domain.com

If you've bought a domain from Domain.com, you must reconfigure your DNS settings to point the domain at your Shopify-hosted storefront.

Set up your domain with Domain.com

Make sure that you've added your custom domain by clicking Connect existing domain on the Domains page of your Shopify admin.

To set up your domain with Domain.com:

  1. Log in to your Domain.com account.

  2. In the Domain section, click DomainCentral:

  3. Click the name of your domain in the My Domains section:

  4. Click the DNS tab:

  5. In the Modify drop-down-menu, select CNAME Alias:

  6. Enter www in the Host text box, and shops.myshopify.com Copy in the Points To text box.

  7. Click Add.

  8. On the same page, select A Record from the Modify drop-down-menu:

  9. In the A Record table, find the row with your domain name and select Edit from the drop-down-menu:

  10. Enter Shopify's IP address 23.227.38.32 Copy in the text box:

  11. Click Save.

  12. Click Verify connection in your Shopify admin to confirm that your custom domain has been connected to your store.

It can take up to 48 hours for changes to take effect.

Caution

If you are unable to edit your DNS records from within your domain provider's admin section, then you must contact Domain.com support.
