Logging in to your Shopify account

After logging in to Shopify, you can set up your store, configure your settings, and manage your business.

Depending on the device that you're using, you can do different things in Shopify. If you log in to your Shopify admin from a browser, then you can manage all aspects of your store. If you log in to the Shopify app from your phone, then you can view your store's recent activity, update your store's catalog, and manage your orders.

The Shopify admin

When you log in to your Shopify admin, the first thing that you see is your Shopify Home:

Admin home new

Your Shopify Home is the starting point for the work you do in Shopify. Shopify Home is a landing page that shows key information about daily tasks, your store’s recent activity, and the next steps you can take to build your business. From here, you can:

  • Keep track of orders and revenue at a glance across all your active sales channels.

  • Manage your business using the Shopify admin.

  • Receive updates about urgent tasks through Home notifications.

  • Gain insight about purchase patterns, traffic, and growth through Shopify's analytics.

Log in to your Shopify admin

To log in:

  1. Go to your Shopify login page.

  2. Enter your email and password.

  3. Click the Log in button.

Layout of the Shopify admin

From your Shopify Home, you can access the different sections of the Shopify admin using the left navigation:

Admin left nav channels

The different sections of the Shopify admin are organized into three groups:

  • core aspects of your Shopify business, including orders, products, and customers
  • sales channels, including Online Store, Point of Sale, and Buy Button
  • apps and general settings that apply to your Shopify business.

If a section of the Shopify admin has an arrow beside it, then you can expand the navigation and display additional settings or pages related to that section.

You can also use the in-admin search to find products, pages, or other information within your Shopify admin:

Metrics

The Home metrics display a sales summary for your overall business, and specific sales and engagement data for your active sales channels. You can view sales data from Today, the Last 7 days, or the Last 30 days using the dropdown menu.

If you want a closer look at your store's sales and engagement data, open the Reports page in your Shopify admin for more detailed reports and analytics.

Notifications

Shopify Home also displays notifications about your own unique Shopify business, based on your account status, growth, and recent customer activity. Notifications appear outside of Home Feed:

Categories

Shopify Home Feed offers insights sorted by categories: Admin, Sales, Engagement, Growth and Social. Categories make it easy to tell between different types of insights and advice cards in Home Feed. If no cards in a specific category are visible, then that category won't appear.
