Product sales reports

The Product sales report has been replaced by the Sales report.

If you are on the Shopify plan or higher, you can access reports about your products sales from the Reports page in your Shopify admin.

The Product sales reports show you your top-selling products. You can access several different reports about your product sales in the Product sales section:

Report assumptions

Make sure you understand the assumptions for the information you see is in the Product sales reports:

  • Reports are based on the date of the orders.
  • Reports show gross sales (product price multiplied by the quantity purchased) but do not include sales from test orders.
  • Reports do not include canceled or deleted orders.
  • Reports do not include refunds (partial or full), discounts, shipping, taxes, quantity breaks, etc.

Gross sales by product title

The Gross sales by product title reports show the breakdown of gross sales of your top-selling products:

Make sure you understand the terms used in the Gross sales by product title report.

Dimension/Metric Definition
Product type The type of product you are selling. For example, hats, shirts, shoes, etc.
Product vendor The vendor of your product, if you purchase it from a third party.
Product title The name for your product.
Units sold The number of products that were sold in the selected time period.
Gross sales The product price multiplied by the quantity purchased. Refer to the report assumptions for what is included and excluded from gross sales.

Gross sales by product variant SKU

The Gross sales by product variant SKU reports show the breakdown of gross sales of your top-selling products on a more granular level than the Gross sales by product title report:

Dimension/Metric Definition
Product title The name for your product.
Variant title The name of the product variant option.
Variant SKU The identification code of the product variant option.
Units sold The number of product variants that were sold in the selected time period.
Gross sales The product variant price multiplied by the quantity purchased. Refer to the report assumptions for what is included and excluded from gross sales.

Gross sales by traffic referrer source

The Gross sales by traffic referrer source report shows your gross sales based on where your customers are coming from (for example, direct, referral, search engine, or social):

This report is different from the Traffic reports. You can see the referral source that not only brings customers to your website, but also converts them into revenue.

Traffic source Where your customers who are generating revenue are coming from (for example, direct, referral, search engine, or social).
Product type The type of product you are selling. For example, hats, shirts, shoes, etc.
Product vendor The vendor of your product, if you purchase it from a third party.
Product title The name for your product.
Gross sales The product price multiplied by the quantity purchased. Refer to the report assumptions for what is included and excluded from gross sales.
