Customizing your Shopify POS receipts

If you're using Shopify POS for iPad with the retail package, you can customize the basic template for your receipts from the Shopify POS app settings.

Note

If you want to edit the way transactions are shown on the receipt, go to the Notifications page of your Shopify admin, and edit the POS and Mobile Receipt template.

If you have staff with POS PINs, then you can remove their access to the receipt customization settings by enabling the Limited permissions option from your Staff settings screen.

Add your store logo to your receipt

You can upload any image (typically your logo) that you want to show on your receipts. The logo you upload will replace your store name on the receipt.

If you use Shopify POS on multiple iPads, then you need to upload the logo on each one.

Make sure the image you use meets these basic requirements:

  • JPG or PNG format
  • black and white (you can use color, but the print quality might be lower)
  • 400 pixels wide and 200 pixels high.

If you need to crop your logo image, try a free online tool such as croppola or CUTMYPiC.

To add your store logo to your receipt:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:

  4. On the Customize printed receipt screen, tap Tap to upload:

  5. Choose the image you want to upload. You'll see a preview on your iPad:

To include a message to customers in the header or footer of your receipts:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:

  4. On the Customize printed receipt screen, tap either Header text or Footer text:

  5. Enter your custom text, then tap Done.

Include order notes on your receipts

By default, order notes are for internal use only. If you want to share order notes with customers, then you can include order notes on your printed receipts:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS app Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:

  4. On the Customize printed receipt screen, enable the Show order note option by tapping its toggle button:

Include customer information on your receipts

To include a customer's information on their recipt:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS app Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:

  4. On the Customize printed receipt screen, enable the Show customer information option by tapping its toggle button:

To print the iPad's assigned location on your receipts:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS app Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:

  4. On the Customize printed receipt screen, enable the Show store location option by tapping its toggle button:

Include order barcodes on your receipts

You can scan a receipt barcode with a barcode scanner (2D version only) or your iPad's camera to open the matching order in Shopify POS.

To include order barcodes on your printed receipts:

  1. On your iPad, go to the Shopify POS app Settings screen.

  2. Tap General to access the general settings.

  3. Tap Customize receipts:
