Set staff permissions

Your staff members can log in to Shopify POS using their own credentials only if they have the required permissions. You can view and change your staff members' account permissions from the Account settings page of your Shopify admin.

Required staff permissions

Staff need full access to log in to Shopify POS for iPad. If you try to log in to Shopify POS using an account that doesn't have full access, then you'll receive the following error:

Staff need full access to log in to Shopify POS for iPhone. If you try to log in to Shopify POS using an account that doesn't have full access, then you'll receive the following error:

Staff need either full account access or at least the required minimum account permissions in your Shopify admin to log in to Shopify POS for Android. If you try to log in to Shopify POS for Android using an account that doesn't have the required minimum permissions, then you'll receive an error message:

To give a staff member with limited permissions access to Shopify POS for Android:

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin as the account owner.
  2. From your Shopify admin, click Settings, then click Account.

  3. In the Staff members section, click the name of the staff member that you want to use Shopify POS for Android.

  4. In the Admin Access section, check Limit admin access for the staff member:

  5. Check at least the required sections:

    Admin access requirements

    • Orders
    • Customers
    • Products, Inventory, & Collections
    • Locations
    • Order Creation
    • Settings

    You can also give the staff member access to additional sections if you want, or give them full access.

  6. When you're done, click Save.
