Activate shipping with Fedex
You'll need an account with Fedex before you can activate this carrier service on your Shopify store.
If your Shopify account is frozen at any time, your carriers might become deactivated. Check your shipping settings as soon as your account is restored.
Register for an account with FedEx
If you have any problems with this stage of the FedEx setup, you must contact FedEx directly.
- Visit the FedEx website and click on the country where your store is located.
Click Register Now.
Click Open an account.
Fill in the pages of the form as required, clicking Continue to move on to the next page. You can create your own User ID and password.
At the bottom of page 1 of the form, you are asked to confirm which type of account you need. Make sure you select Open a FedEx account.
During the initial setup process with FedEx, you should make a careful note of:
- the account number that you are assigned
- your billing address exactly as you state it in the form.
You will need to re-enter this information later and the details must match exactly.
Obtain your FedEx credentials
You need an account with Fedex before you can access their web services and obtain your credentials.
Open a new browser tab and navigate to www.fedex.com/developer.
You want to click the Register Now button to get a developer account. Keep in mind that it may appear slightly differently depending on your region, but it should look something like this:
Complete the registration process.
Click back to www.fedex.com/developer.
This time, click on FedEx Web Services and then click Move to Production:
This will bring you to a new screen where you can click Get Production Key:
Fill out your credentials on the next page (including your account number from Part 1). Continue clicking through to receive your Authentication Key and Meter Number.
Your Meter Number will be emailed to you by FedEx, but the authentication key will not. Make sure that you record your authentication key before proceeding.
Now, check the email address you provided during registration for an email from FedEx. It will contain a copy of your:
FedEx Account Number.
If you have any problems with your FedEx setup, you must contact FedEx directly. Shopify cannot obtain your FedEx credentials for you, or provide support for your FedEx account.
Activate carrier-calculated shipping for FedEx
Before you can activate carrier-calculated shipping for FedEx, you must:
To activate carrier-calculated shipping for FedEx:
From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Shipping.
In the Carrier-calculated shipping section, and click Manage carriers.
On the Real-time carriers page, find the FedEx section, and then click Activate.
Enter your FedEx credentials (copy and paste them if you can, to avoid mistakes).
