Shopify Academy credentials update

On October 29, 2026, Shopify Academy will be sunset. All Shopify Academy purchases will be refunded, and Shopify Academy certifications will no longer be a Partner Program tier requirement.

What if I purchased a paid Academy exam?

Shopify will issue a full refund to the original payment method for any Shopify Academy purchase, regardless of when you made it. No action is needed from you.

What if I used my personal credit card for a company purchase?

Shopify can only issue the refund to the original payment method, even if the purchase was made for or reimbursed by a company. If the original payment method is no longer active and the refund cannot be completed, Shopify will contact you to ask where the payment should be sent instead.

When will I receive my refund?

Refunds are issued on a rolling basis, starting October 1, 2026, and all refunds are completed by October 31, 2026. You'll receive confirmation after your refund has been processed.

What happens to my earned badges and credentials?

Earned badges stay visible through the end of 2027, and Shopify Academy credentials remain valid until January 1, 2028. After that, the credential links on your profiles stop working.

Will my Partner tier change?

No, partner tiers will be unaffected by this change.
