Display important information on the checkout page

Note

This guide is relevant only to merchants selling in France.

On the checkout page, customers enter their shipping and payment information, and complete their purchase. Merchants who sell in France often display links to the following information on their checkout page:

• Legal notice
• Terms of sale
• Refund policy
• Legal notice

Add a legal notice to your checkout page

Merchants who sell in France often add an legal notice page to their store, which displays information about their company such as its name, address, and contact details.

You can also add a link to this content on your checkout page.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
2. Click Checkout.
3. In the Order processing section, check Require a confirmation step.
4. Click Save.
5. Go to Settings > Policies, and then enter text in the Legal notice text box.
6. Click Save.

Add terms of sale and a refund policy confirmation to your checkout page

You can display a link to your terms of sale and refund policy on your checkout page.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
2. Click Checkout.
3. In the Order processing section, check Require a confirmation step.
4. Click Save.
5. In the Policies section, enter text in the Terms of sale and Refund policy text boxes.
6. Click Save.
7. Click the eye icon to preview your online store.
8. Add a product to the cart and go to the checkout. If you see the terms of sale and refund policy statement, then you're done. If you don't see the terms of sale and refund policy statement, then continue to the next step.
9. Click Online store.
10. Next to your current theme name, click the ... button > Edit default theme content.
11. Click Checkout & system.
12. In the search box, type review notice and press enter.
13. Under the heading Checkout & system / Checkout review, in the Review notice html text box, enter the following text:
    • By completing your order, you agree to our %{terms_of_sale} and %{refund_policy}
14. Click Save.
15. Click Change theme language
16. In the Language drop-down menu, select French and click Save.
17. In the French Review notice html text box, enter the following text:
    • En validant votre paiement, vous confirmez définitivement votre commande et acceptez l’intégralité de nos %{terms_of_sale} et de notre %{refund_policy}.
18. Click Save.
