With Shop Promise, you can use flat shipping rates or calculated shipping rates. You need to follow the guidelines on how to name your shipping rates.

The following types of shipping rates are compatible with Shop Promise:

Considerations for Shop Promise shipping rates

Review the following considerations about how shipping rates work with Shop Promise:

  • You can use any pre-named flat shipping rates that are available in your Shopify admin, or you can set your own custom rate name.
  • Products that you ship with calculated shipping rates aren't eligible to display Shop Promise on the product page. Shop Promise displays only during checkout for products that you ship with calculated shipping rates.
  • Shipping rates from third-party apps shouldn't include specific transit times in their naming or wording, such as 2-day shipping for example. This avoids customer confusion and any potential conflict with your Shop Promise delivery estimate.

Set a custom shipping rate name for Shop Promise

If you set a custom rate name for a flat shipping rate in your Shopify admin, then you need to use generic wording for the name to avoid any potential discrepancy between the promised delivery time and the actual delivery time.

For example, you can use words such as Standard, Economy, Express, or Fast. Incompatible rate names for flat shipping rates aren't displayed with Shop Promise.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.

  2. In the Shipping section, click the relevant shipping profile.

  3. In the Shipping origins section, do one of the following in the relevant Shipping zones section:

    • To add a new flat shipping rate:
      1. Click Add rate.
      2. In the Rate type drop-down, select Use flat rate.
      3. In the Shipping rate drop-down, select Custom.
      4. In the Custom rate name field, enter your shipping rate name.
      5. In the Price field, enter your shipping rate price.
      6. Optional: To add price-based conditions or weight-based conditions to your shipping rate, click Add conditional pricing and complete the relevant steps.
      7. Click Done.
    • To edit your custom name for an existing flat shipping rate:
      1. Click > Edit rate.
      2. In the Custom rate name field, edit your shipping rate name.
      3. Click Done.
  4. Click Save.

If you use shipping rates from a third-party app, then you need to follow the same rate naming guidance as above. You can adjust the names of your shipping rates in the third-party app settings.
