Mapping your product data sources for Shopify Catalog
You can map your Shopify Catalog product data to your preferred sources and influence how your products are represented on AI-driven sales channels. Shopify Catalog structures product data by using categories, identifying product attributes, consolidating variants, and grouping identical items. This helps customers view relevant and unique results for their search, with live pricing and stock availability.
When you view the Shopify Catalog Mapping tool, there might be suggested default options for how your products can be listed in Shopify Catalog. Any default options are based on analysis of your store's unique product data.
All stores can map product data for Shopify Catalog, but you might not need to make any changes. Shopify Catalog Mapping is most helpful if your store uses custom data and grouping logic for products, such as metafields, metaobjects, tag prefixes, or separators/delimiters in product titles. If your store uses these types of custom product data, and you want to change how your products display to customers on AI platforms without affecting the unique product structure or data that you have in your store, then you can map your product data sources for Shopify Catalog.
You can impact how your products are displayed to potential customers in AI chats, by completing the following optional tasks with Shopify Catalog Mapping:
- Review how your key product data is delivered to Shopify Catalog
- Change the sources for relevant product data by mapping to metafields and structured data
