Managing bills

After you've added your bills, you can manage all your bills directly in your Shopify Bill Pay account.

Bill statuses

Your bills can have the following statuses:

List of possible statuses that a bill can have and a description of the status
StatusDescription
PaidThe bill has been paid in full and no further action is needed.
UnpaidThe bill has not been paid in full yet.
OverdueThe bill has not been paid in full, and the due date for the bill has passed.
Verification pendingYou've indicated to pay this bill using a bank account, but the bank account is not yet verified.
Pending vendorYou've requested that the vendor choose the way they want to be paid, and the vendor has not yet selected their preferred method.
ScheduledYou've scheduled the payment for this bill, but the bill is still currently unpaid.
In progressThe payment has been deducted from your account and is being processed.
Payment failedThe attempt to pay the bill failed. Review the full list of reasons and solutions.

Sorting, filtering, and searching for bills

To help you organize and find your bills, you can sort, filter, and search for your bills within Shopify Bill Pay.

Sort your bills

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the sort button.
  3. Select the sorting criteria, and whether to sort in ascending or descending order.

Filter your bills

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the search and filter button.
  3. Click Add filter, and then select the criteria you want to filter by.
  4. Select the specific value to filter for.

Search for a bill

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the search and filter button.
  3. Enter your search term, and then press enter on your keyboard.

Reschedule a bill

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the bill.
  3. Click Edit payment.
  4. In Delivery details, select a new deduction date.
  5. Click Update payment.

Delete a bill

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the bill.
  3. Click Delete bill, and then click Delete.

Cancel a scheduled payment

You can cancel a scheduled payment only before the payment is processed. After a payment begins processing, there's no guarantee that it can be canceled. To try and request a stop payment and refund, contact Shopify Support.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Bill Pay.
  2. Click the bill that you want to delete.
  3. In the most recent payment activity, click Cancel payment, and then click Cancel payment.
