Assign customer-facing names to Flexport shipping options
Assigning customer-facing names to Flexport's shipping options helps to ensure that Flexport selects the correct service level when your fulfillment is shipped.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Fulfillment Network.
- In Flexport's Shipping Option Mapping page, click Give customer-facing names to Flexport shipping options.
- Click Add a Shipping Option.
- In the Shipping Option Name box, enter a shipping rate name. This shipping option name should exactly match the name of a shipping rate that you offer in your Shopify store.
- In the Flexport Service Level box, select the delivery time associated with that shipping option.
- Click Save Changes.
For example, you offer a shipping rate in your Shopify store called Express (2 day). In Flexport, you add a shipping option, enter Express (2 day) as the shipping option name, and then select 2 Day for the service level.
Activate international shipping
To ship internationally, you need to confirm whether you have any international shipping integrations.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Fulfillment Network.
- Click Allow Flexport to fulfill orders outside the United States.
- Select the option from the following list that applies to your business:
- Managed Markets
- Global-E
- I do not have an integration
- Click Enable International Shipping.
You can change your shipping integration later if you start using Managed Markets or Global-E.
Set priority rules for routing orders
Orders are assigned to locations based on the fulfillment priority. If you have inventory that's managed by the Shopify Fulfillment Network (SFN) app and other locations, then you need to define the order in which locations are checked for inventory when an order is placed. For example, your locations might be set in the following fulfillment priority order:
- SFN - Flexport
- Home Office
- Retail Storefront
In this example, SFN - Flexport has first priority for incoming orders that include products that are assigned to its location.
When you create a draft order, ensure that you manually select the fulfillment center that you want to fulfill the order. For example, if you want to fulfill your draft order at SFN - Flexport, then make sure to manually select SFN - Flexport as your fulfillment location.
If you need to manually adjust the locations for an order, then follow these best practices:
- Whenever possible, try to assign the order to a single location.
- If you need to assign a line item to a location that has enough inventory to fulfill that line item, then don't split that line item between locations.
- If an item is oversold, then assign the order to the priority location where the item is stocked.
