Display important information on the checkout page for China

Note

This guide is relevant only to merchants selling in China.

On the checkout page, customers enter their shipping and payment information, and complete their purchase. Merchants who sell in China often display links to the following information on their checkout page:

• Legal notice
• Terms of sale
• Refund policy
• Legal notice

Add a legal notice to your checkout page

Merchants who sell in China often add an legal notice page to their store, which displays information about their company such as its name, address, and contact information.

You can also add a link to this content on your checkout page.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
2. Click Checkout.
3. In the Order processing section, check Require a confirmation step.
4. Click Save.
5. In the Policies section, enter text in the Legal notice text box.
6. Click Save.

Add terms of sale and a refund policy confirmation to your checkout page

You can display a link to your terms of sale and refund policy on your checkout page.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
2. Click Checkout.
3. In the Order processing section, check Require a confirmation step.
4. Click Save.
5. Return to the Settings page.
6. Click Policies.
7. In the Legal pages section, enter text in the Terms of service and Refund policy text boxes.
8. Click Save.
9. Click the eye icon to preview your online store.
10. Add a product to the cart and go to the checkout. If your order contains links to your terms of service and refund policy statement, then you're done. If you don't have the terms of service and refund policy statement links, then continue to the next step.
11. Click Online store.
12. Next to your current theme name, click the ... button > Edit default theme content.
13. Click Checkout & system.
14. In the search box, type review notice and press enter.
15. Under the heading Checkout review, in the Review notice html text box, enter the following text:
    • By completing your order, you agree to our %{terms_of_sale} and %{refund_policy}
16. Click Save.
17. Click Change theme language
18. In the Language drop-down menu, select Chinese and click Save.
19. In the Chinese Review notice html text box, enter the following text:
    • In confirming your payment, you are also confirming your order and that you accept our %{terms_of_sale} and %{refund_policy}.
20. Click Save.
