Import orders using Marketplace Connect
You can set up your orders to automatically import from a marketplace to your Shopify admin, or you can manually import an order.
After an order is imported, the marketplace name is displayed in the Channel field on your Orders page.

Review the following table to understand the different order import settings that you can set up using Marketplace Connect.

Only fulfilled by {marketplace} | Only syncs orders that come from Fulfilled by {marketplace} product listings, which are fulfilled by the marketplace that you're connected to. | |
Only fulfilled by merchant | This only syncs orders that come from Fulfilled by merchant listings, which are orders that you plan to fulfill yourself through your Shopify admin. | |
Import orders when | Pending | Syncs an order to your Shopify admin as soon as it's been placed, regardless of payment status. |
Complete | Only syncs an order to your Shopify admin after the customer has paid in full. | |
Tax handling for {marketplace} orders | Withhold tax | After the marketplace collects and remits sales tax on your behalf for an order, the order is imported to Shopify excluding tax from the order details. If you select Withhold tax , then taxes don't display on your reporting for marketplace orders in Shopify, and you can instead find them on your marketplace reporting. This is the default option for tax handling on Marketplace Connect. Learn more about tax handling for each marketplace that you connect to. |
Send tax | After the marketplace collects and remits sales tax on your behalf for an order, the order is imported to Shopify including tax in the order details. If you select Send tax , then marketplace order taxes are displayed on your reporting in Shopify. Learn more about tax handling for each marketplace that you connect to. |
Set up automatic order imports
You can set up automatic order imports in the Settings section of Marketplace Connect. If you're connected to multiple marketplaces, then repeat these steps for each marketplace that you want to manage order import settings for.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
- Click Marketplace Connect.
Click Open app.
Click Settings.
In the Accounts section, click the name of the marketplace account that you want to manage.
In the Order import and Taxes sections, make your selections.
Click Save.
Manually import an order
If an order wasn't automatically imported, then you can manually import an order from a marketplace to your Shopify admin.
Steps
- From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
- Click Marketplace Connect.
Click Open app.
Click Orders.
On the order that you want to import, in the Import column, select Import.
Click Save.
After you import an order from a marketplace, it's displayed in the Orders section of your Shopify admin.
Tax handling
You can choose whether to withhold tax or send tax in your order import settings. You should review the tax handling information for each of the marketplaces that you connect to:
- To learn about tax handling for Amazon orders, refer to the Taxes and regulations for Amazon Global Selling documentation for the country that you want to sell in.
- For example, for selling in Canada refer to sellercentral.amazon.ca, for selling in the United states refer to sellercentral.amazon.com, or for selling in the UK, refer to sellercentral.amazon.co.uk.
- To learn about tax handling for Walmart orders, refer to Walmart's Tax Configuration guide.
- To learn about setting up tax handling for eBay, refer to eBay's Tax policy. Ensure that you review the policy for your specified region.
- For example, for selling in the United States refer to ebay.com, or for selling in the UK refer to ebay.co.uk.

- For tax handling with Target Plus, review the following details:
- All tax is remitted by Target Plus via Stripe.
- Tax amounts won't be displayed in your Shopify admin on orders placed through Target Plus.
