Deleting retailers on the Shopify Collective sales channel

You can delete a retailer from your Shopify Collective sales channel if you decide to end your partnership. When you delete a retailer, they're notified by email that your stores are no longer connected.

Before deleting your connection, contact the retailer to discuss any payments owed for fulfilled orders, and to agree on how you’ll handle any unfulfilled orders.

Important considerations before deleting retailers

Before deleting a retailer from your Shopify Collective sales channel, review the following considerations:

  • Deleting a retailer will immediately break the connection between your Shopify stores. They’ll be notified by email.
  • In the retailer's Shopify store, all products that they imported from you will have their inventory set to 0.
  • You should contact the retailer to discuss any unfulfilled orders, or you can cancel them in your admin.
  • Order syncing will stop within a few minutes after deleting a retailer, and if tracking numbers are added to orders, then these also won't sync.
  • Payments for fulfilled orders won't be affected, and refunds can still be processed.

Getting paid after a partnership ends

No new orders can be created with a deleted retailer, but there can still be existing orders that you’ve not yet been paid for. How you get paid for these orders depends on your payment settings in the Shopify Collective sales channel, and the individual arrangement you have with the retailer.

If automatic payments are on

If you use automatic payments with the retailer, then after you delete them as a connection, you’ll continue to be paid automatically by them for orders you’ve fulfilled.

Any unfulfilled orders you proceed with after the retailer is deleted won't be paid for automatically. Before shipping unfulfilled orders, be sure to agree on a manual payment method and terms with the retailer.

If automatic payments are off

If you do not use automatic payments with the retailer, then after you delete them as a connection, continue to manually collect payments from them for all previously fulfilled orders. This won't happen automatically. Manual payment collection would also apply to any unfulfilled orders you agree to ship after your partnership on Collective ends.
