Add tracking numbers to orders

When you add a tracking number to an order, the customer's order status page displays real-time shipping updates from the carrier.

Add tracking numbers before you fulfill an order

If you have a tracking number before you fulfill an order, then you can add the number during the fulfillment process. The number is included in the shipping confirmation email that is sent to the customer.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. From the Orders page, click an order number that has a fulfillment status of Partially fulfilled or Unfulfilled.

  3. In the Unfulfilled section, click Fulfill item(s) to open the order’s Fulfillment page.

  4. In the Tracking information section, enter your shipment's Tracking number.

  5. Shopify might recognize the tracking number format and choose a shipping carrier for you. If it doesn't, or if it chooses incorrectly, then choose your shipping carrier from the Shipping carrier drop-down menu.

  6. Optional: If you have more than one tracking number, click Add another tracking number and then enter the tracking number. Important: All tracking numbers must be from the same carrier.

  7. If your carrier isn't fully supported by Shopify, or if you select Other from the Shipping carrier drop-down menu, then you can enter the Tracking URL manually. This tracking number will appear on the order status page. Make sure that you enter the complete URL (including the digits) that your carrier provided to track the shipment.

  8. Click Fulfill item(s).
