Creating a combined listing

To create a combined listing, group your products by a shared option, such as size or color. For example, you sell shoes on your online store in different colors and sizes. You can add Size as an option to each product that you want to add to the combined listing, and then can add a Color option to the combined listing.

Considerations for creating a combined listing

Certain features are either incompatible with the Combined Listings app, or prevent certain options within the Combined Listings app. Review the following considerations before creating a combined listing.

Considerations for combined listing options

Review the following considerations for combined listing options:

  • All option names in a combined listing parent and child must be unique. For example, if the products that you want to add to the listing already have an option named Color, then don't add an option named Color to the combined listing.
  • Combined listing parent options are added separately from, and in addition to, any existing variant options in the child products.
  • An option value can't be empty.
  • Each option value must be unique.
  • You can manually enter values for each option, or connect category metafields to populate your combined listing option values. Learn more about using category metafields in the Combined Listings app.

Considerations for adding child products to a combined listing

Review the following considerations for adding child products to a combined listing:

  • Products can be included only in one combined listing at a time. If a product is already in a combined listing, then it can't be added to another combined listing. You can create a new product, or remove the product from the existing combined listing, and then add it to another combined listing.
  • Only an existing product can be added to a combined listing. You must add or update your products before you can add them to a combined listing.
  • A combined listing can't be added as a child product of another combined listing.
  • If you duplicate a combined listing product, then it will be created as a regular product.

Combined listing maximum values

Combined listings have the following maximum values:

  • A combined listing can have a combined maximum of 2,000 variant option values across all child products.
  • You can add up to 60 products to a combined listing.
  • You can add up to 3 options to a combined listing, in addition to the options in each product included in the listing.

Category metafields in the Combined Listings app

If you've added a category to your child product details, then you can connect that category metafield in the Combined Listings app to populate options and option values for your combined listing.

Review the following considerations when connecting metafield categories to your combined listing:

  • Category metafields can be connected only if at least one child product has a category assigned.
  • If a child product has more than one entry in a category metafield, then only the first value will connect to the combined listing option value automatically.
  • Changing a category metafield in your combined listing doesn't update the category metafield in your child product.

Create a combined listing

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Combined Listings.
  2. Click Create combined listing.
  3. Enter a title for your combined listing.
  4. Click Add products.
  5. In the modal, select products by clicking the checkbox next to the product listing. You can also use the search bar to find specific products.
  6. Click Add products.
  7. Add a unique option in the Option name.
  8. Optional: Add another option. You can add up to 3 options.
  9. In the Products section, enter a value for the option to each product in one of the following ways:
    • Manually enter an option value.
    • Click the option name field, and then select the relevant category metafield to populate the option values with existing metaobjects. After option values populate, you can select metaobjects for empty option values, and edit the populated option values to ensure the correct metaobject is connected.
  10. Click Save to create the combined listing.
  11. Optional: Click change the status to add any additional product details, and then set the product status to Active to publish the combined listing.

Delete a combined listing

A combined listing can't be recovered after deletion. The combined listing will be deleted from the Combined Listings app, from your storefront, and from the Products section of your Shopify admin.

After you delete or archive a combined listing, the child products included in the combined listing aren't deleted.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Combined Listings.
  2. Click the combined listing that you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete combined listing.
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

You can also delete or archive a combined listing from the Products section of your Shopify admin.
