Viewing your product inventory on the Inventory page

You can view the inventory counts for your product variants on the Inventory page. On the Inventory page, you can search variants, filter or sort by different criteria, change the sort order, and create, edit, and delete views. You can also add tags to your products to help with inventory management.

The Inventory page displays your inventory states for each of your products at a single location. You can change the location using the drop-down menu next to the location name.

Display, hide, reorder columns

To optimize each of your inventory views, you can display, hide, and reorder columns. For example, you can hide the On hand column, in cases where you don't want to view the On hand inventory. You can reorder and hide any column, with the exception of the Product column. The Product column is always displayed first in the table.

You can create a new view by clicking the + icon. In the dialog box, type a Name and then click Create view. You can also create new views or update existing views with filters. Click the search and filter icon, and then click Save or Save as. For a new view, type a name in the Name field and click Save to save the view. Before or after you create a view with a filter, you can edit the columns. For example, you can create a view where the filter displays stock that has less than 10 units available and have only the Product and Available columns displayed.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Inventory.
  2. Click the saved view tab that you want to make changes to.

Adjust On hand and Available inventory quantities

You can change the On hand and Available quantity of products in the following ways:

  • on the Inventory page
  • using the bulk editor
  • using the inventory CSV file
  • for available inventory only, on the product details page

You can also use the inventory barcode scanner on a mobile device to add barcodes for your products.

If a product's inventory quantity is tracked using inventory apps, then its quantities will be allocated only to that app location. You can change the locations that products are assigned to.

You can also edit available inventory per location directly from the product details page by using the search and filter options to filter by location.

When you have multiple locations, a location filter appears in the Shopify admin on pages and sections where it applies, such as the Orders page and the Inventory page. When you select a location in the filter, the page keeps your selection until you change it. The selected location for a page is stored in a browser cookie, so it isn’t maintained between devices or browsers.

From the Adjustment History page, you can also review adjustments that were made by third-party apps or by processes that occur automatically in Shopify.
