Forms app

The Forms app helps you to engage with your online store customers and grow your email list. By using the Forms app, you can create a form that prompts your customers to join your marketing email list. The form can be customized to match your brand and capture customer information in a privacy-compliant way. You can also integrate a discount into the form and choose when you want it to display. After you create a form, you can create automations, as well as view analytics such as conversion rates and customer segments.

Considerations for using the Forms app

Before you use the Forms app, review the following considerations:

  • Forms are displayed on your store only if they've been activated. Forms are actived by default when they're created.
  • If you use both a popup form and an inline form in your store, and then you deactivate the Forms theme app embed, then the popup form is still displayed only on pages that also contain the inline form. In this case, the popup form isn't displayed pages that don't have an inline form. To prevent the popup form from being displayed on any page, deactivate the form.

Create a form

When you create a form, you can choose whether you want it to display as a popup form or as an inline form.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Forms.
  2. Click Create form.
  3. Select whether to create a Popup form or an Inline form.
  4. Enter a name for the form.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Configure the form based on your setting preferences.
  7. Click Save.

A popup form is displayed as content that floats as an overlay above your store's content. Learn more about the configuration settings for popup forms.

Inline forms

An inline form is displayed in your store in a specific section on your theme, such as on a page. Learn more about the configuration settings for inline forms.

Managing forms

The main app page displays a list of all of your forms and includes the following information:

  • Discount: Whether the form has an assigned discount.
  • Status: Whether the form is active or inactive.
  • Views: How many times the form has been viewed.
  • Submissions: How many times a customer has successfully filled out and submitted the form.
  • Completion rate: The number of form submissions divided by the total number of views.

By default, the overview displays all of your forms, but you can filter the view to display only the Active or Inactive forms. You can take actions to manage your forms from the main app page, such as activating, renaming, or deleting a form.

Activate a form

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Forms.
  2. Click … beside the form that you want to activate.
  3. Click Turn on.

Forms can be also be activated from a specific form's page. Click the form that you want to activate, and then click Turn form on.

Deactivate a form

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Forms.
  2. Click … beside the form that you want to deactivate.
  3. Click Turn off.

Forms also can be deactivated from a specific form's page. Click the form that you want to deactivate, and then click Turn form off.

Rename a form

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Forms.
  2. Click … beside the form that you want to rename.
  3. Click Rename form.
  4. Enter the new name for the form.
  5. Click Save.

Forms also can be renamed from a specific form's page. Click the form that you want to rename, click More actions, and then click Rename.

Delete a form

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps > Forms.
  2. Click … beside the form that you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.

Forms can be also deleted from a specific form's page. Click the form that you want to delete, click More actions, and then click Delete.

Shop

The forms app is integrated with the Shop app. Customers using the Shop app can automatically apply discount codes that they receive by completing the form when they check out.
