Customize your online store theme
You can create an event that changes the theme of your online store for the duration of the event. For example, if you want to use campaign-specific advertisements, then add these to your event theme. You can also customize your event theme to use a different navigation structure, home page layout, and images for the duration of your event.
Steps:
- Create an event-specific theme with all the changes that you want to make to your online store for the event. You can duplicate your current theme and use it as the basis for the event theme.
- Create an event in Launchpad, select Enable theme switching, and then select both a theme to be used during the event and another theme to be used after the event.
Run checkout scripts
You can apply additional discounts during an event by scheduling Shopify Scripts to run for the duration of the event. Create an event that runs your event-specific line item and shipping scripts. Examples of the types of discounts that you can create using Shopify Scripts include:
- discounting products with specific tags
- running promotions such as buy 2, get 1 free
- offering a gift with purchase or free shipping for orders over a specific amount
Steps:
- Create a line item or shipping script for the event.
- Create an event in Launchpad, select Enable line item scripts or Enable shipping scripts, and follow the instructions to select a script to be used during the event and another script to be used after the event. If you don't want to use a script after the event, then select Unpublish all scripts from the After event drop-down.
Specify an end date
You can schedule an end date and time for an event when you create it. If you don't enter an end date, then you need to manually end the event from the Dashboard page. To learn how to end an event, refer to Ending events.
Lock your online store before an event
You can temporarily lock customers out of your online store for a small period of time before the event starts. For example, you could lock your store to build anticipation and to prevent customers from pre-filling their carts before the event.
Steps:
- Decide what password page you want to display to your customers. You can use your theme's default password page, or customize your page.
- Create an event in Launchpad and select Enable password page.
Your online store will be locked before your event for the amount of time you choose, and then unlock automatically when the event starts.
