Setting up Shopify Audiences

After you set up Shopify Audiences, audience lists based on your store attributes are automatically created and exported to your connected ad platforms.

Set up the Shopify Audiences app

By activating data contribution for Shopify Audiences, you agree to automatically contribute customer data to Shopify Audiences. To protect your privacy and your customers' privacy, all personally identifying information is removed.

Before you begin setting up the Shopify Audiences app

Check whether you're eligible to use Shopify Audiences, and install the app.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. To agree to the Shopify Audiences terms and conditions, click Get started.

  5. To turn on data sharing, click Share data.

  6. To connect to Meta, Google, Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat, or Criteo, click Connect ad account.

After you finish setting up the app, audience lists are usually ready to use within 24 hours. Repeat these steps to connect to another digital advertising platform.

Connect to Meta

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the Meta tab, and then click Connect ad account.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your Facebook password, and click Continue.

  6. Select the Meta Business Account and ad account that you want to export audience lists to.

  7. To accept Meta's Custom Audiences terms, click Accept terms.

Connect to Google

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the Google tab, and then click Connect ad account.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your Google password and click Continue.

  6. Select the Google Ads account that you want to export audience lists to.

  7. To accept Google's Customer Match Policy, click Accept terms.

Connect to Pinterest

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the Pinterest tab, and then click Connect ad account.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your Pinterest password, and click Give access.

  6. Select the Pinterest ad account that you want to export audience lists to.

Connect to TikTok

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the TikTok tab, and then click Connect ad account.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your TikTok password, and click Confirm.

  6. Select the TikTok ad account that you want to export audience lists to.

  7. To accept TikTok's Audiences terms, click Accept terms.

Connect to Snapchat

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the Snapchat tab, and then click Connect to Snapchat.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your Snapchat password, and click Continue.

  6. Select the Snapchat business account and ad account that you want to export audience lists to.

  7. To accept Snapchat's Customer List Audience Terms, click Accept terms.

Connect to Criteo

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shopify Audiences.

  3. Click Open app.

  4. Select the Criteo tab, and then click Connect to Criteo.

  5. Click Connect, and then enter your Criteo password, and click Approve.

  6. Select the Criteo ad account that you want to export audience lists to.
