Exchanging an item
When you make a refund, you can exchange a returned item for a new item. If there's a difference in price between the two items, then you can collect or pay out the difference during the exchange.
Steps
From Shopify POS, tap Orders.
Tap the order of the item being returned.
Tap Refund or exchange, and then tap the item that's being returned. Returned items are added to the inventory of the assigned location for your POS device. If you don't want to return the items to your inventory, then disable the Restock option.
In the New products section, tap Add products for exchange.
Select the new item that you want to exchange for the returned item.
If you want to attribute the sale of the exchanged item to a staff account, then tap Add staff who helped with sale and then select the staff account.
Tap Done.
If the price of the new item is greater than the returned item, then tap Collect to select a payment method and collect the remaining balance. If the price of the new item is less than the returned item, then verify the refund amount and tap Refund.
If necessary, process the payment or refund.
Tap Done.

If necessary, process the payment or refund.
Tap Complete exchange.
From Shopify POS, tap Orders.

Tap REFUND OR EXCHANGE, and then tap the item that's being returned. Returned items are added to the inventory of the assigned location for your POS device. If you don't want to return the items to your inventory, then disable the Restock option.

Select the new item that you want to exchange for the returned item.
Select the quantity of the new item that you want to add.
Tap ✔.
If the price of the new item is greater than the returned item, then tap COLLECT to select a payment method and collect the remaining balance. If the price of the new item is less than the returned item, then verify the refund amount and tap REFUND.
If necessary, process the payment or refund.
Tap COMPLETE EXCHANGE.
If a customer wants to exchange again, then refund either the original order or the exchange order from your Shopify admin.
