Retail requirements - Italy

If your store is located in Italy, then you must comply with regulations concerning receipts. The following are the most common questions concerning these regulations.

Can I issue a fiscal receipt for retail orders processed with Shopify POS?

Yes, this can be done by processing payments with our WisePad 3 and our supported printer, Epson FP-81II RT, sold in the Shopify Hardware Store. Another supported compatible printer is the Epson FP-90III RT.

Is the payment hardware connected to the Tax Office?

Yes, our supported printers are connected to the Italian tax authority, and send all the information about processed sales for tax compliance.

Can the POS be integrated with the Italian Lottery?

Merchants will be able to input the lottery code, that every Italian citizen can get from the Lottery’s portal, in the POS. After the transaction is processed the printer will record it. The receipts with the lottery code will be then sent to the Italian tax agency, both when sending a daily closing, as well as automatically when there have been 100 receipts.

Can I add another fee, for example, the revenue stamp, to orders processed with Shopify POS?

Not at this time. As a workaround the fee could be created as a product, hidden from the store, and added to the relevant carts.

Can I add the customers’ VAT number or Fiscal Code at check out?

No. This information can be added as a note to the order, or to the customer name or address in their profile.

No. This information can be added as a note to the order, or to the customer name or address in their profile.

Can I access a summary of receipts for a specific year directly from the Admin?

This info can be found in the Sales Report, Riepilogo Contabilità.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Analytics > Reports.

  2. In the Finances section, click Finances summary.

  3. Select the POS channel and choose a date range.
