Ship from store

You can fulfill orders that need to be shipped using Ship from store on Shopify POS. Retail staff with permissions can fulfill orders without accessing the Shopify admin. Using Shopify POS, you can print packing slips, purchase and print shipping labels, assign tracking, and ship from your locations.

Requirements

Review the following requirements for shipping from your store on Shopify POS:

  • Set up your fulfillment locations to include the retail locations that you want to fulfill from.
  • Use order routing rules to choose your fulfillment locations.
  • Set up your fulfillment locations to include a shipping profile.
  • Your retail staff members that prepare and fulfill orders from Shopify POS should have the following permissions in their POS role set to Allowed:
    • Orders > Fulfill shipping orders
    • Orders > Reassign or cancel fulfillment
  • To print shipping labels with Ship from store, you need to use either of the following label printers:

Using Shopify POS, you can pack orders that need to be shipped, print packing slips, purchase shipping labels, and assign tracking information when you're fulfilling an order.

Step 1: Pack order

If your location has an order that it needs to fulfill, then you can begin to fulfill the order by finding the products from the order in your store, and packing them.

Steps:

  1. Using Shopify POS, tap Orders.
  2. Tap Shipping > Prepare for shipping.
  3. Tap the order that you want to prepare for shipping.
  4. Tap Prepare for shipping.
  5. In the Prepare for shipping window, select the items you're fulfilling and shipping from your location. You can also use a barcode scanner, or tap Scan in Shopify POS to scan items during fulfillment.

You can leave and return to the fulfillment of an order at any time to complete fulfillment. The items that you select when fulfilling the order save to the order.

Step 2: Print packing slip

After you've packed the order you want to fulfill, you can print a packing slip to include in the shipment.

Steps:

  1. Using Shopify POS, tap Orders.
  2. Tap Shipping > In progress.
  3. Tap the order that you want to print a packing slip for.
  4. Tap Prepare for shipping.
  5. In the Next steps section, tap Print packing slip.
  6. Confirm the details of the fulfillment, and tap Print.
  7. Tap Fulfill items.

Step 3: Assign shipping information

Before you mark the order as fulfilled and shipped, you need to buy a shipping label, and assign the tracking information to the order. You can complete fulfillment two different ways in Shopify POS:

  • You can purchase and print a shipping label using Shopify Shipping in the Shopify POS app.
  • You can purchase and print a shipping label using a third-party shipping provider, and manually input the tracking number for the order.

Steps:

POS
  1. Using Shopify POS, tap Orders.
  2. Tap Shipping > In progress.
  3. Tap the order that you want to purchase a shipping label for.
  4. Tap Purchase shipping label.
  5. On the Purchase shipping label page, confirm the package details, and the shipping service that you want to use.
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Confirm all of the details of your shipping label purchase, and tap Purchase label.
  8. Tap Print shipping label.
  9. Confirm the printer details, and then tap Print.
Manual
  1. Using Shopify POS, tap Orders.
  2. Tap Shipping > Add tracking.
  3. Tap the order that you want to assign tracking information to.
  4. Tap Manage fulfillment.
  5. Tap Add tracking.
  6. In the Tracking number, enter the tracking number for the order.
  7. Confirm that the shipping carrier is correct for the tracking number.
  8. Tap Save.
