Shopify Catalog
Shopify Catalog is a structured source of product information gathered from eligible products that are sold by stores on Shopify.
Shop, select AI platforms, shopping sites, and AI agents can use Shopify Catalog to search and understand product information, such as titles, descriptions, images, pricing, options, and availability. This can help customers discover products that match what they're looking for, using your product data from Shopify instead of a separate product feed for different channels.
Your products need to meet specific requirements to be included in Shopify Catalog. If your store and products meet the requirements, then your products are automatically included in Shopify Catalog, and you don't need to take any additional action. Being included in Shopify Catalog doesn't guarantee that a product will appear in a specific AI answer, be ranked in a specific position, or be displayed by every channel that's connected to Shopify Catalog.
You can optimize your products by keeping your product information clear, complete, and up to date, so that Shopify Catalog can understand them. Make sure that you provide accurate, detailed, and descriptive product information, including titles, descriptions, images, categories, variants, options, prices, and inventory.
If you use custom product data or grouping logic in your store, then you can map product data to your preferred sources and create custom combined listings. This influences which product data sources Shopify Catalog reads, and how variants of the same product might be grouped into single listings by Shopify Catalog, but it doesn't guarantee product placement, ranking, or exact wording in AI search results.
Shopify Catalog product data syndication on AI channels
AI channels that access Shopify Catalog can use your product data to support search and product discovery, and to display product details, comparisons, and recommendations within their experiences. Shopify Catalog supplies product data that an AI channel can use, but each channel controls the final ranking, wording, and shopping experience.
With Shopify's agentic storefronts, for example, eligible product data is made available to supported AI channels through Shopify Catalog in a structured format. This can help customers discover your products in AI shopping experiences where the channel chooses to display them.
For more information about what types of product data are shared, refer to Understanding data syndication on AI channels.
You can choose to stop individual agentic storefronts from having access to your products through Shopify Catalog. This doesn't remove your products from Shopify Catalog, and they remain available for other uses, such as storefront search and Shop. You can't opt out of Shopify Catalog itself.
For more information about the Shopify Catalog access and Direct checkout controls that are available for managing your agentic storefronts, refer to Choosing which AI channels can access your data.
