Sidekick Pulse

With Sidekick Pulse, Sidekick proactively researches your store's data and generates personalized recommendations. Pulse cards with suggested actions are displayed directly on the Home page of your Shopify admin. Up to 5 suggested actions are displayed at a time.

When you select an action, Sidekick opens a conversation and builds a to-do list. Sidekick doesn't change your live store without your approval. You review the changes before they're applied.

Sidekick Pulse is available only to some stores with recent sales activity. To use Sidekick Pulse, you need to be the store owner or a staff member with admin access. You also need to have Shopify Network Intelligence activated in your store.

Take action on a recommendation

Each card suggests an action that you can take to improve your store.

The conversations that you start from a recommendation are listed in your Sidekick conversation history.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Home.
  2. To act on a recommendation, select its action on a Pulse card. Sidekick opens a conversation and builds a to-do list based on the recommendation.
  3. In the Sidekick conversation, review the to-do list, and then follow the prompts to complete each task.

Review a recommendation that Sidekick tested

Some Pulse cards suggest a change to your online store theme. Sidekick can test this type of change before the card is displayed. Sidekick builds the change into an unpublished copy of your live theme. Then SimGym compares the copy with your live theme in simulated shopping sessions.

If the copy has a higher add-to-cart rate than your live theme, then the card displays Tested by Sidekick. Some cards also display an Add-to-cart rate badge. A card can also display Review suggested changes without Tested by Sidekick. This means that the test didn't find a higher add-to-cart rate for the copy, but you can still review the changes.

Sidekick doesn't test every recommendation. It tests only changes that display on desktop and that are meant to help customers add products to their cart. Your store also needs to be able to use Canvas with your live theme.

Your live theme doesn't change when you review a tested recommendation. Your customers view the changes only after you publish the draft theme. The test result describes the copy that Sidekick tested, so it doesn't describe edits that you make to the draft theme. The draft theme opens only in Canvas, so the considerations for themes in Canvas apply to it.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Home.
  2. On a Pulse card, click Review suggested changes. Sidekick opens a conversation and prepares an unpublished draft theme that's built from the tested copy.
  3. When the draft theme is ready, do any of the following:
    • To edit or publish the draft theme, click Review the draft in Canvas.
    • To view the draft theme the way that your customers would, click Preview the unpublished storefront.
  4. Optional: To make the changes live, publish the draft theme in Canvas.

The draft theme is added to your theme library. Its name is [Sidekick] Suggested theme, followed by the date and time that Sidekick created it.

Dismiss a recommendation and give feedback

If a recommendation isn't relevant to your store, then you can dismiss its Pulse card. After you dismiss a card, you can share why it wasn't relevant. Sidekick uses this feedback to personalize future recommendations. Sharing feedback is optional.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Home.
  2. On the Pulse card, click the X icon to dismiss a recommendation.
  3. Optional: Enter why the recommendation wasn't relevant, and then submit your feedback.
