Initial shipping setup

Before you can start shipping your products, you need to add some essential information about your business on the Shipping page in your Shopify admin.

Find your shipping settings page

Note

If you've already signed up for Shopify, you can click here to view your shipping settings page in your Shopify admin.

To find the Shipping settings page:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
  2. Click Shipping.

Add a shipping origin address

If you ship your products from somewhere other than your store's main office, you can specify a separate shipping origin to make sure your taxes and carrier calculated shipping rates are accurate.

To add your business's shipping origin:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Shipping.

  2. In the Shipping origin section, click Edit address.

  3. Enter the address of the location where you ship your products from, and then click Update shipping address:

    Update shipping address

Add or edit a saved package

You can save the dimensions and weights of your preferred package types on the Shipping settings page in your Shopify admin.

If you're using Shopify Shipping, then you can save multiple package types. This lets you choose from a list of packages when you're fulfilling an order, and can help make sure that your carrier-calculated shipping rates are accurate.

To add or edit a saved package:

  1. On your Shipping settings page, find the Packages section.
  2. On the Saved packages card, click Add package to add a new saved package, or click the name of the saved package that you want to edit:

    Add package

    Note

If your store isn't using for Shopify Shipping, then you can't save more than one package type.

  3. On the Add... or Edit... dialog, enter the required information about the package type. For example:

    Add a package
Some mail types have restrictions on the size of the packages that you can use to ship your products. A notice about applicable size restrictions will appear on the Add a package dialog when you create a new package type.

    Did you know?

If you enter dimensions and weights for your packages, then your carrier-calculated shipping rates will be more accurate.

  4. When you're done, click Save.

Edit or delete a package type

You can edit or delete an existing package type by clicking on its name in the Saved packages section.

To edit or delete a package type:

  1. On your Shipping settings page, find the Packages section.
  2. On the Saved packages card, click the name of the package type that you want to edit:
    Edit package
  3. On the Edit dialog, enter your changes and then click Save, or click Delete package:
