Using theme presets

Many themes include preset styles that let you quickly set many theme options at once. By choosing a preset style, you can quickly change the appearance of your current theme.

On the Customize theme page of your Shopify admin, you can choose, create, and delete theme presets. This means that if you've set up your theme options the way you like, you can save those options as a preset and quickly reset to that set of options any time in the future.

Choosing a theme preset

You can choose an existing preset for your theme on the Customize theme page of your Shopify admin.

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes (or press G W T).

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click the Customize theme button for the theme.

  3. In the theme options menu, click Presets. The presets for your theme are listed in a column.

  4. Click a preset to set all of your theme options to match the preset.

If you have made any changes to your theme options, you will be asked if you want to save those changes before applying the preset:

    Prompt before applying preset
  5. Click Apply preset without saving to use the new preset without saving your current theme options. Click Save current as new preset to save your theme options first.

When you apply a preset, you can see the changes to your theme in the theme preview section.

  6. Click Save changes to confirm the changes to your theme options.

Creating a new theme preset

If you have customized your theme options the way you like, you can save those options as a theme preset and return to that set of options at any time.

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes (or press G W T).

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click the Customize theme button for the theme.

  3. In the theme options menu, click Presets.

  4. Click Save current as new preset.

  5. In the box after Save as, choose to save your preset as a new preset, or to save over an existing preset.

  6. In the box after called, type a name for your preset:

Save current settings as a preset
  7. Click Save to save your theme options as a new preset.

Deleting a theme preset

You can delete theme presets if you don't want to show them in your presets list anymore.

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Themes (or press G W T).

  2. Find the theme you want to edit and click the Customize theme button for the theme.

  3. In the theme options menu, click Presets. The presets for your theme are listed in a column.

  4. Click the trash can icon below a preset to delete that preset:

    Delete preset dialog
  5. Click Delete to delete the preset and remove it from your presets list.
