How Partners earn on Shopify

As a Shopify Partner, you earn by referring merchants, building and transferring/launching stores, or developing apps and themes.

You can earn in two ways when helping a merchant get started on Shopify: by building and transferring/launching their store, or by referring them to Shopify.

Building and transferring/launching merchant stores

What you earn, how to qualify, and when you get paid for building and transferring or launching a merchant store

What you earn	20% of monthly base platform fee or subscription fee1 + 0.1% of monthly eligible GMV2
How to qualify	Client transfer stores: Create a client transfer store in the Partner Dashboard and transfer it to the merchant. The merchant must activate their plan through your transfer. Plus deals sold alongside Shopify sales team: Share an executed Statement of Work for a net new merchant.
When you get paid	Paid monthly, starting on the month of the first subscription payment (net of credits), or first dollar of eligible GMV. 4 year term begins once the first payment is made to a partner. First payment is within 30 days of all terms being met

For existing merchants, earnings associated with a new product or expansion store will be paid to the partner responsible for the transfer/launch.

Starter and Lite plans are not eligible for revenue share.

The final decision to grant payouts is at Shopify's discretion.

Building and transferring/launching Shopify POS

Earn a one-time payout and profit share for every Shopify POS referral.

Earn a profit share for building and transferring/launching B2B for a merchant.

Your revenue share is based on your prior year's App Store earnings and company revenue.

A 2.9% processing fee applies to all app billing. This applies to one-time purchases, subscriptions, and upgrades through the Shopify App Store.

At a glance: You keep 85% of all revenue from themes sold through the Shopify Theme Store.
