Adding and removing market customizations
When you create a market, it inherits your store's default settings. You can override any of these defaults by adding customizations to the market. Each customization controls a specific aspect of the customer experience.
| Customization | What it affects |
|---|---|
| Catalogs | Which products are available in the market, and at what price. |
| Local currencies | The currency displayed to customers when browsing and paying. |
| Online store | Theme sections, blocks, and content displayed to customers in the market. |
| Domains and languages | The URL structure and language customers experience. |
| Duties and taxes | How taxes are displayed and whether duties are collected at checkout. |
| Business entities | Which legal entity processes payments for the market. Shopify Plus only. |
Inheritance
If a market doesn't have a specific customization, then it inherits the value from its parent market. If there's no parent market, then the store default is used.
When you add a customization to a market, the setting moves from the Inherited section to the Customized section on the market detail page. You can remove a customization at any time to revert to the inherited value.
Different customizations follow different inheritance rules. Some are overridden by the submarket's value, whereas others (like catalogs) are combined. Refer to each customization's page for details on how inheritance works.
Add customizations
Customizations are added per market. When you click next to a setting on a market's detail page, you override the inherited value with a market-specific customization.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Markets.
Click the market that you want to customize.
Click
next to the setting you want to change.
Configure the customization, and then click Done.
Click Save.
Remove customizations
You can remove a customization at any time. After you remove the customization, your market reverts to using the setting inherited from its parent market. If there's no parent market, then the store default is used.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Markets.
Click the market that you want to customize.
Click
next to the setting you want to remove.
Click Save.
