Migrate to Facebook and Instagram by Meta
Starting May 28, 2022, Facebook and Instagram by Meta is managed by Meta. This means that the Facebook and Instagram by Meta is migrating to a new app experience. This update is automatic, and after your channel is updated, you're notified in Facebook and Instagram by Meta. After your Facebook and Instagram by Meta is updated, you can contact Meta for support, or Shopify for support
Meta data sharing levels are the same as the previous app experience. You can continue to choose how you want data to be collected and shared between your online store and Facebook.
The terms of service for using Facebook and Instagram by Meta are unchanged. Refer to the Facebook Commerce Terms and Policies for more information.
If you are currently running any Facebook Ads campaigns, then they remain active, and you can continue to monitor the campaign performance from your Shopify admin.
After the sales channel update, you can't edit an active campaign or create new campaigns from within the Shopify Admin. Instead, use your Facebook Ads Manager to create and manage new marketing activities for Facebook and Instagram.
Opt out of the Facebook and Instagram by Meta update
If you don't want to participate in the Facebook and Instagram by Meta update, then you need to uninstall Facebook and Instagram by Meta from your Shopify admin.
From the Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.
For Facebook & Instagram, click Uninstall.
In the Uninstall Facebook & Instagram window, confirm that you understand the risks of uninstalling the channel, and then click Uninstall.
48 hours after you uninstall the channel, a request to erase your customers’ personal information from this sales channel is sent to Facebook.
