Set up the Shop channel

Set up the Shop channel to manage how your Shop Store displays to customers in the Shop app, and manage your shopping settings. If you use the Shop channel, then you can manage settings that help improve your customers' shopping experience.

Add the Shop channel to Shopify

Customize your Shop Store for Shop

You can use the Shop channel to view your Shop Store as it appears to Shop app users. You can also edit your brand assets, store information, and change the order in which product collections appear in your Shop Store.

The Shop channel automatically syncs with your online store to display certain information in Shop such as your logo, cover image, store description, and store policies. You can manage your brand assets for your whole store in the Shopify admin, or update only what appears in Shop by using the Shop channel.

If you're not using the Shop channel, then you can customize the following details in your Shopify admin, and the changes will appear in Shop:

Edit your store brand assets and collections

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Shop Store.

  5. From the drop down menu at the top of the page, select Shop Store home.

  6. Do any of the following:

    • Click Logo to change the logo that appears on your Shop Store.
    • Click Cover image to change the cover image that appears on your Shop Store, or hover and click the eye icon to hide your cover image from Shop.
    • Next to Cover image, hover and click on the eye icon to hide your cover image from Shop.
    • Click Collections to add, remove, or reorder a collection on your Shop Store.
    • Hover and click on the eye icon next to Collections to hide collections from Shop.
    • Hover and click on the eye icon next to Best sellers to hide your best selling products from your Shop Store.
  7. Click Save.

Edit your store information

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Shop Store.

  5. From the drop down menu at the top of the page, select Shop information.

  6. Do any of the following:

    • Click Description to change the description that appears on your Shop Store, and then click Save.
    • Click Contact & social to change the contact information that appears in your Shop Store such as your contact URL, email, phone number, and social media profiles, and then click Save.
    • Under Online store, click Manage online store to return to the Shopify admin and edit your online store.
    • Under Store policies, click Manage policies to return to the Shopify admin to edit your store policies, and then click Save.

Sell with Shop

The Sell with Shop setting manages all the features that let customers purchase from your store on Shop. This includes the Shop Store, product detail pages, and checkout. This setting allows you to sell your products on the Shop app, and must be activated for your store to be discoverable in searches.

If your store meets the eligibility requirements in the Shop Merchant Guidelines, then the Sell with Shop setting is activated automatically. If you don't want to sell your products on the Shop app, then you can deactivate the Sell with Shop setting.

Opt out of Sell with Shop

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Settings.

  5. In the Sell with Shop section, click Deactivate.

Shop search is designed with ranking systems that help customers quickly find relevant and useful search results in the Shop app.

If your store meets the eligibility requirements in the Shop Merchant Guidelines, and you have the Shopping and Discovery settings activated in the Shop channel, then your customers can discover your Shop Store and the products in your store from the Search tab in the Shop app. By default, you're opted in to Shop search.

If you don't want your store and products to be discoverable in Shop, then you have the option to deactivate the Discovery setting. If you opt out of Shop search, then your Shop Store and products are removed from search results and Shop collections, which includes local discovery.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Apps and sales channels.

  2. From the Apps and sales channels page, click Shop.

  3. Click Open sales channel.

  4. Click Settings.

  5. In the Sell with Shop section, deactivate Discovery.
