Activating Shop Pay
To activate Shop Pay on your Shopify store, follow the steps based on your device. After you've completed these steps, your customers can use Shop Pay to check out on your store. If you want to customize the language of your Shop Pay checkout, then you can refer to the article on updating Shop Pay checkout default wording.
Activating Shop Pay also adds the following Shop features to your store when eligible:
- Sell with Shop is automatically activated on stores using Shop Pay that meet all Shop channel eligibility requirements. This feature displays your eligible products in the Shop app for customers to discover and purchase.
- Sign in with Shop is automatically activated on stores using Shop Pay and new customer accounts. This feature lets customers sign in to your online store using their Shop account for a more personalized shopping experience and one-tap checkout.

Receive payouts for payments made through Shop Pay
It's important to complete the setup for Shop Pay, including your business details and banking information, to receive payouts. If you don't complete the setup within 21 days of receiving your first payment through Shop Pay, then all payments will be automatically refunded to the customer. Activate Shop Pay
Desktop
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
- In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
- In the Shop Pay section, check Shop Pay.
- Click Save.
iPhone
- From the Shopify app, tap the … button, and then tap Settings.
- In the Store settings section, tap Payments.
- In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
- In the Shop Pay section, check Shop Pay.
- Click Save.
Android
- From the Shopify app, tap the … button, and then tap Settings.
- In the Store settings section, tap Payments.
- In the Shopify Payments section, click Manage.
- In the Shop Pay section, check Shop Pay.
- Click Save.
Shop Pay for third-party gateways
Shop Pay can also be activated as an accelerated checkout for third-party gateways, allowing customers to use Shop Pay on your online store, Facebook, and Instagram.
Shop Pay for third-party gateways eligibility requirements
To activate Shop Pay for third-party gateways, your store needs to meet the following requirements:
- Your online store is located in Australia, France, or the United States.
- Your online store meets the Shopify Payments requirements for your location:

- In the Third-party payment providers section, click Manage.
- In the Shop Pay section, check Enable Shop Pay.
- Click Save.
- In the Shop Pay section, click Complete set up.
- Enter the required details about your online store and banking information, and then click Save.
iPhone
- From the Shopify app, tap the … button, and then tap Settings.
- In the Store settings section, tap Payments.
- In the Third-party payment providers section, click Manage.
