Direct and external credit card payment providers
This page was printed on Feb 16, 2019. For the current version, visit https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/third-party-providers/direct-and-external-providers.
If you activate an external provider, then your customers will need to leave your store's checkout to pay for their purchases on the provider's website. If you want your customers to stay in your store's checkout to pay for their purchases, then you need to enable a direct provider instead.
To find out which of these third-party payment gateways are available in your country, see Shopify payment gateways.
