Cash drawer for Shopify POS
Unless you process only cashless payments, you should get a secure and reliable cash drawer for your retail setup.

To use this hardware with your Shopify store, you need to meet the following requirements:
- the all-new Shopify POS
- a compatible iPad or iPhone that is running iOS 12.2 or higher OR a compatible Android device that is running version 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher

You can also buy the supported cash drawers from many authorized resellers.
Installing the cash drawer
If you're using the Star Micronics cash drawer, then take a look at this installation video:
Connect the cash drawer to the receipt printer using the cash drawer cable provided. The larger end of the cable plugs into the cash drawer, and the smaller end of the cable plugs into the receipt printer.
Opening the cash drawer
You can open the cash drawer manually using the included keys, or wirelessly from the iPad. The iPad connects to the cash drawer through the receipt printer, and the cash drawer opens automatically after each sale, or if you tap No Sale from the Shopify POS app.
Test the connection to the cash drawer
From Shopify POS, tap ≡, and then tap Settings.
Tap Manage connected hardware.
Tap the printer that you want to test.
Tap Test cash drawer. The cash drawer should open.
To avoid common problems, make sure to check the following:
the cash drawer's cable is plugged into the receipt printer
the receipt printer has paper
the receipt printer is properly paired with the iPad or iPhone
you're using the cash drawer cable you received in the hardware package to connect the cash drawer to the printer.
If you tap No Sale on the products and cart screen and the cash drawer doesn't open, then this is likely a problem with the cash drawer cable. Contact our support team.
