When an item appears in the cart, that item becomes a part of an order. If you have multiple locations, then only the products stocked at your Shopify POS device’s assigned location are available for sale (in the products view).
Add a product to the cart
You can add an item to the Shopify POS cart.
Steps:
Tap the item's image in the products grid, or tap the barcode button and scan the item's barcode:
Tip
You can tap and hold the image to see the product's details. This is useful if you want to show your customer other variant images, or if you need to check inventory levels.
If a product has variants, then you'll need to tap options on the dialog that appears to choose the variant you want:
After you've selected an item and a variant (if necessary), the product will be added to the cart.
Caution
If you're using Shopify POS, you can continue selling products when inventory reaches zero and below. This is because the Shopify POS app assumes you have the inventory on hand if you are selling in person.
If you're adding or editing a variant for the online store and you select Continue selling when out of stock , then you can continue selling products when your inventory reaches zero and below. However, if you deselect this option because you don't want to sell a product that has sold out, then customers can't buy the product.
