Managing Point of Sale staff
If you're the store owner or a staff member with the Manage Point of Sale staff permission, then you can do the following from the Point of Sale channel of your Shopify admin:
- Change the contact information for all POS app-only staff.
- Change the POS role for any staff member with Point of Sale access.
- Change the PIN for any staff member with Point of Sale access.
- Delete a POS app-only staff member account.
- Remove Point of Sale access from staff with access to the Shopify admin.
You can do the following from the Plans and permissions page of the Shopify admin:
- Change the contact information for all POS app-only staff.
- Delete a POS app-only staff member account.
Only the store owner can do the following:
- Change the email address for a POS app-only staff member.
- Manage their (the store owner's) contact information, POS role, and PIN.
If the staff member has access to the Shopify admin, only they can edit their contact information themselves.
Change a staff member's information
From Shopify POS, tap
≡
, and then tap Staff.Tap the staff member's name.
For a POS app-only staff member, in the CONTACT INFORMATION section, tap Edit, and then enter the new contact information.

To reassign the POS role, do the following:
- In the POS APP ACCESS section, tap Edit, and then select a different role.
- Tap Save.

To change the PIN, do the following:
- In the SECURITY section, tap Edit.
- Tap Generate new PIN or enter a new PIN code.
- Tap Save.
Search and filter the staff list
You can search for a specific staff member by entering a name, email address, or phone number into the Search staff field. In addition, you can filter the staff list by tapping one or more POS role.
Delete a Point of Sale app-only staff member account
If you're the store owner, or have an account with the Manage Point of Sale staff permission, then you can delete POS app-only staff member accounts.
Steps:
From Shopify POS, tap
≡
, and then tap Staff.Tap the name of a POS app-only staff member.
Tap Delete staff.
Change a staff member's information (Point of Sale channel)
From the Shopify admin, in the SALES CHANNELS section, click Point of Sale > Staff.
Click a staff member's name.
Enter the new contact information.
To reassign the POS role, in the POS ROLE section, select a different role.
To change the PIN, in the PIN section, click Generate random PIN or enter a PIN. Make sure the staff members knows what the new PIN is.
Click Save.
Search and filter the staff list (Point of Sale channel)
You can search for a specific staff member by entering a name, email address, or phone number into the search field. In addition, you can filter the staff list by level of access (for example, Admin), or by POS role. You can check one or more filtering rule, and combine both access and POS role filtering rules.
For example, you can filter the staff list to display only the staff members who have Admin and POS app access and the Associate POS role.
Apply the same action to multiple staff members
You can apply the following actions to multiple staff members simultaneously:
- Assign POS roles.
- Give Point of Sale permission for staff with Shopify admin access member accounts.
- Delete POS app-only staff member accounts.
In the following example, you assign the same POS role to several staff members all at once.
Steps:
From the Shopify admin, in the SALES CHANNELS section, click Point of Sale > Staff.
Check the box beside the name of each staff member whose POS role you want to assign.
Click Assign POS role, and then click the role that you want to assign to all the selected staff members.
Delete a Point of Sale app-only staff account (Point of Sale channel)
If you're the store owner, or have an account with full admin access, then you can delete POS app-only staff accounts.
Steps:
From the Shopify admin, in the SALES CHANNELS section, click Point of Sale > Staff.
Click the name of a POS app-only staff member.
Click Delete staff.
Change a staff member's information (Shopify admin)
From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Plan and permissions.
In the POS app only section, click a staff member's name.
Enter the new contact information.
To reassign the POS role, in the POS ROLE section, select a different role.
To change the PIN, in the PIN section, click Generate random PIN or enter a PIN. Make sure the staff members knows what the new PIN is.
Click Save.
Delete a Point of Sale app-only staff account (Shopify admin)
If you're the store owner, or have an account with full admin access, then you can delete POS app-only staff accounts.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Plan and permissions.
In the POS app only section, click a staff member's name.
Click Delete staff.
