Choosing a shipping method for sending products to Shopify Fulfillment Network

This guide is for merchants who started using the Shopify Fulfillment Network (SFN) before January 30, 2024. The Shopify Fulfillment Network app has been rebuilt to offer fulfillment solutions in partnership with Flexport. If you use the new SFN app, then refer to the new SFN guide.

You can send your products to SFN using Small Parcel or Freight shipping. Small Parcel shipments use carriers such as UPS or FedEx to transport individually packed boxes. Freight shipments use freight forwarders to transport a collection of boxes on pallets or in shipping containers.

If you're not sure whether to use Small Parcel or Freight shipping, then use the total weight of your shipment as a guideline. For information about which shipping method to use for different shipment weights, refer to the following table:

Shipping method	Total shipment weight
Small Parcel	Under 300 lbs (136 kg)
Freight	300 lbs (136 kg) or over

Select a shipping method for sending your products to SFN

To specify the shipping method for your shipment, follow these steps:

1. From the SFN app, go to Inbound transfers, and then select a submitted inbound transfer.
2. In the Choose a shipping method section, select one of the following options:
   • SMALL PARCEL
   • FREIGHT
3. Complete the required fields for your shipping method:
   • Small Parcel
   • Freight
