Shopify's Google Shopping app syncs your Shopify store to your Google Merchant Center, uploading your store's products to Google to make your products available on Google Shopping and other Google services. Google Merchant Center is a tool for your Google account that helps you to manage your products on Google with Google Shopping listings and targeted Google Adwords campaigns.

Add products to Google Merchant Center

Sync data from your Shopify store to your Google Merchant Center account

Shopify's Googgle Shopping app automatically syncs your products from your Shopify store to your Google Merchant Center, including inventory amount.

Google sets a strict 30-day expiry policy on synced product data, so the Google Shopping app updates your products automatically within that 30-day period to avoid account suspension or loss of product data.

Shopify's Google Shopping app attempts to intelligently match your Shopify product and product variant data to Google Merchant Center's requirements.

You can edit many of your products' data and identifier elements through the bulk action drop-down menu in the Google Shopping app's product list. This allows you to quickly edit the following fields on your products:

  • Condition
  • Age Group
  • Gender
  • AdWords Grouping
  • Adwords Labels
  • Whether an item is a custom product

Track data synced from your Shopify store to your Google Merchant Center account

Shopify's Google Shopping app uses Google's real-time API to send data to Google Merchant Center, so you won't see a data feed from Shopify listed under Data feeds in your Google Merchant Center.

Instead, click the API Dashboard for information on the data that Shopify is syncing to Google.

Google recommends using the API rather than manually uploading product feeds to make sure that the information remains correct and consistent.


The activity timeline shows a blue line for submitted products and a red line for those that have been rejected. You can also download an XML sheet to help debug your product feed.

Change your Google Merchant Center account's merchant center ID (MCID)

If you have multiple Google Merchant Center accounts, or if you share a Google Merchant Center group account, then you can change your merchant center ID when necessary.

To change your MCID:

  1. Go to the Settings page of the Google Shopping app:

    Click 'Settings'
  2. In the Google account section, update the Merchant Center ID inline.

  3. Click Save:

    Click 'Save'
