Shopify Inbox lets you connect with customers who visit your online store. You can manage conversations with your staff, or turn on an Inbox agent to respond to customers automatically.

Inbox agent

Shopify Inbox includes an Inbox agent that you can turn on to chat with customers automatically. The Inbox agent answers customer questions about your products, shipping, returns, sizing, and store policies by using your product catalog, store policies, Knowledge Base facts and files, and published storefront content such as pages, blog posts, and product care guides. The Inbox agent can also use cited web search as a fallback for product-adjacent content such as usage ideas and reviews when your store information doesn't provide an answer. When customers sign in with Shop, the Inbox agent can personalize product recommendations based on their preferences, sizes, and purchase history.

The Inbox agent is an opt-in feature. If you already use Inbox, then your conversations stay with your staff until you choose to turn it on. You can configure the Inbox agent's settings, persona, and training from the Inbox page in your Shopify admin. To review and respond to customer conversations, use the Shopify Inbox app for desktop, iOS, or Android. Managing conversations with your staff

If you manage conversations with your staff, you and your staff respond to customer messages directly. You can respond to messages, send product links, send discount codes, and send images from Shopify Inbox.

You can access Shopify Inbox on your desktop at inbox.shopify.com, and through the Shopify Inbox app for iOS and Android. When customers send you messages, you can respond from your desktop or mobile device, and manage conversations across staff members.

You can customize your chat settings and appearance and configure Inbox settings such as notifications, quick replies, and availability hours.
