Location settings

If you have the Point of Sale sales channel enabled, then you'll see a Locations page in your Shopify admin. The Locations page contains the name and address of each of your stores, headquarters, and pop-up shops. When taxes are applied to an in-person order, the POS device's assigned location is used to determine which tax rates are applicable.

From your Locations page, you can set your store's primary location. The primary location is the default location that's used until you assign a different location to a device.

Note

Whenever you install the Shopify POS app on a device, make sure that you assign it to a location so that it applies the relevant tax rates.

View your Locations settings page

To see your Locations settings page:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Point of Sale, and then click Locations (or press G T L).

Add a store location

To add a store location:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Point of Sale, and then click Locations (or press G T L).

  2. Click Add location:

  3. Enter the details of your new location. You can also check the Set as primary location box, if you want to make this address your primary location.

  4. Click Add location:

Edit a store location

You can change the name, address, or telephone number of an existing location:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Point of Sale, and then click Locations (or press G T L).

  2. Find the location you want to update and click Edit location:

  3. Update the information in the form. Unless you're editing your primary location, you can also check the Set as primary location box to make this address your primary location.

  4. Click Save location:

Delete a store location

Note

You can't delete your primary location. You must make another location your primary location before you can delete the current one.

To delete a store location:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Point of Sale, and then click Locations (or press G T L).

  2. Find the location you want to delete and click Edit location.

  3. In the Edit Location dialog, click Delete:

Change your primary location

You can choose any of your current store locations as your primary location:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Point of Sale, and then click Locations (or press G T L).

    You'll see all your store locations displayed, one of which will be identified as your current primary location:

  2. Click the Edit location button for the address that you want to set as your primary.

  3. Click the Set as primary location checkbox:

  4. Click Save Location.
