Setting up the Facebook sales channel

To begin, enable Shopify Payments and add the Facebook sales channel in your Shopify admin.

Add the Facebook sales channel in Shopify

To add the Facebook sales channel:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click the + button beside the Sales channels heading.
  2. On the Add sales channel dialog, find Facebook within the list of available channels, and then click Learn more.
  3. Click Add channel.


To appear on your Shop tab, your collections and products must be visible on the Facebook channel. You can also change your products' visibility settings individually or in bulk in your Shopify admin.

Connect your Facebook account

After you've added the Facebook sales channel to your Shopify admin, you need to connect it with an eligible Facebook account.

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Facebook.

  2. Click Get started:


    If you are already logged in to Facebook, confirm that you are using the correct Facebook account. If you are not logged in, enter your Facebook login information. Be sure to use the account that you want to have associated with the products you're going to be selling. The Facebook account that you use must have an admin role on the Facebook page that you are adding a Shop tab to.


    You can change the Facebook account associated with Shopify from the Facebook sales channel's Account page in your Shopify admin.

  3. From the Facebook / Account page in your Shopify admin, click Connect account.

  4. Follow the prompts on the Log in with Facebook dialog to allow Shopify to connect with your business's Facebook page. At this step, Facebook begins the process of verifying your account information:

    After your account has been verified, you can enable Facebook checkout using your Shopify admin. If your account is not verified at this step, you can contact Facebook for further information according to the Sales Policy.


    All accounts, pages, and products associated with the Facebook sales channel are subject to approval by Facebook, according to their Sales Policy.

Enable the Shop tab on your Facebook page

When your store is approved by Facebook, the Facebook sales channel page of your Shopify admin shows a notice:

The next step is to create a Shop tab for your Facebook page where you will post products from your Shopify store.

  1. Click Enable Facebook shop tab.


    To appear on your Shop tab, your collections and products must be visible to the Facebook channel.

  2. If you want to change the order of the collections in your Facebook Shop, click the Shop page, and then drag and drop the available collections in the Collection order section:

  3. When you're done, click Publish changes.

Select which checkout to use

Customers who buy your products on Facebook can check out through Facebook or Shopify. If your store is eligible to use both checkout types, you will be able to select which one to use in your Facebook sales channel settings.


Only customers browsing from the US will be able to check out on Facebook.

Facebook checkout eligibility

To be eligible for checkout on Facebook, your store must:

  • have a plan selected
  • have Shopify Payments activated
  • have at least one product
  • operate in US dollars
  • ship to the United States.

To select your checkout option:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Facebook.

  2. Select one of the following options from the Checkout drop-down menu:

    • Best checkout option available (recommended): Customers will check out through Facebook when possible, otherwise they will be redirected to your Shopify checkout.
    • Customers purchase through Shopify checkout: Customers will be redirected to your Shopify checkout.

      Customers will be redirected to your Shopify checkout if your store doesn't ship to the US.

  3. Click Save to confirm your change.

Review Facebook's Sales Policy

Before you start selling through the Facebook sales channel, make sure that you review Facebook's Sales Policy. This policy affects how you process orders placed directly through Facebook (which appear as Facebook sales in your Shopify admin). Facebook holds merchants accountable to specific timelines and other requirements for those orders' fulfillment, returns, and shipping.

You can review the required terms and conditions from the Account page of the Facebook sales channel in your Shopify admin:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Facebook.
  2. Click Account.
  3. In the Terms and Conditions section, review the separate sets of terms and conditions:
