Uninstalling apps

You can use the Apps page in Shopify to uninstall an app, reinstall an app you previously uninstalled, and view an app's entire install history.

Some integrations are sales channels and appear under Sales channels in your admin rather than in Apps. If you can't find an integration on the Apps page, then refer to Manage sales channels to manage or remove it.

Considerations for uninstalling an app

Review the following considerations before you uninstall an app from your Shopify admin:

  • Review additional uninstall steps: Some apps add code to your online store theme that isn't automatically removed when you uninstall the app. Before uninstalling, review the app's listing on the Shopify App Store or contact the app developer to find out if any extra steps are needed.
  • Review your billing: Uninstalling a paid app cancels future recurring charges, but you might still be billed for the current billing cycle. If you want to request a refund, contact the app developer before uninstalling. Learn more about uninstalling apps with recurring charges.
  • Cancel any external charges: Some third-party apps charge you outside of Shopify, so those charges won't display on your Shopify bill. Uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin doesn't cancel external charges. Review the app's billing settings or contact the app developer to cancel any separate subscriptions or payments.
  • Review inventory at app locations: If the app manages inventory at a location, then you need to transfer or delete that inventory as part of the uninstall process. Learn more about uninstalling an app that has inventory stored at an app location.
  • Consider impacts on your workflows: Any automations, integrations, or store features that depend on the app stop working after you uninstall it.
  • Save any important data: Some apps store data that you can't recover after uninstalling. Export any data you need before you remove the app.
  • Reinstallation: You can reinstall most apps after uninstalling them, but your previous app settings or data might not be restored. Learn more about viewing and reinstalling previously uninstalled apps.
