Hiring help

If you need help to build your store on Shopify, then you can hire a Shopify expert. Experts are trusted, third-party agencies and freelancers who offer services for Shopify merchants and people just starting out with Shopify. Experts can help you with many elements of running your business, including the following:

  • Store setup
  • Marketing and sales
  • Development and troubleshooting
  • Content writing
  • Visual content and branding
  • General guidance

Submitting a request

If you don't have a Shopify store yet, then you can submit a request using the Hire a Shopify expert form. Describe what you need help with so you can be connected with the right expert. Your request might be sent to multiple experts. You can also browse services in the Experts Marketplace and then contact an expert directly.

If you already have a Shopify store, then enter your store address in the Create a job form. You can also browse services in the Experts Marketplace and then contact an expert directly.

If you submit a request, you’re not committed to hiring an expert. You decide whether they're right for the job and whether you want to work with them.

Working with experts

After you submit a request, you’ll get an email when an expert responds.

When talking with the expert, it’s important to identify all the tasks for the job before the work begins. Share your budget, timeline, and expected results to ensure that you and the expert have the same understanding of the job.

Make sure to also define a process for requesting job changes with the expert. Requests for even small adjustments can have an impact on deadlines and costs. All changes should be agreed upon as early as possible before they’re incorporated into the job.

After you define the job scope and agree on a proposal, you should continue to ask the expert for updates and provide feedback. This makes sure both of you agree on job details and prevents misunderstandings.

Meeting expectations for completed jobs

If you’re not satisfied with the results of your job, then you can contact the expert to discuss your concerns. Try to identify if there was a miscommunication and explain how the completed work didn’t meet your expectations. If the discussion doesn’t resolve the issue, then you can discuss the potential of a refund with the expert.

Leaving reviews for experts

After the work is complete, the expert might send you a request for a review.

Your review is shown on the expert’s profile in the Experts Marketplace. Sharing your experience helps others hire the right expert based on the expert's job ratings and reviews.

When you leave a review, you can rate the expert’s communication and quality of work. You can also leave testimonials and mention the cost of the job. For more tips about leaving reviews, refer to Guidelines for reviews.

Reporting bad experiences with experts

If you’re dissatisfied with an expert’s work or behavior, or you think that an expert might have violated Shopify’s Terms of Service, then you should contact Shopify Support.
