Retail Barcode Labels app

The Retail Barcode Labels app lets you design and print barcode labels for your store's products. The Retail Barcode Labels app supports all Avery label sizes and the following Dymo label sizes:

  • Small (0.98" x 0.98"), maximum of 6-8 digits
  • Medium (0.98" x 2.13"), maximum of 22 digits
  • Large (1.10" x 3.50"), maximum of 40 digits
  • Butterfly/Barbell (2.13" x 0.43"), maximum of 8 digits (not available in the United Kingdom)

You can set up the Retail Barcode Labels app in a few easy steps.

Steps:

  1. Download the Retail Barcode Labels app.
  2. Create barcodes to your products.

Create barcodes for your products

You can create barcodes for your products using either of the following methods:

Create barcodes for all of your products

Use the Retail Barcode Labels app to automate the creation of unique barcodes for all of your products.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps.

  2. Click Retail Barcode Labels.

  3. Click Create barcodes and then select Create barcodes for all products.

  4. In the Create barcodes for products dialog, choose one of the following:

    • Only if the product or variant doesn’t have a barcode yet: This generates barcodes for any of your products that don't already have barcodes.
    • Even if the product or variant has a barcode already. Replace any existing barcodes with new ones.: This creates a new barcode for all of the products in your catalog (you can't undo this action).
  5. Click Create barcodes.

Create barcodes for a specific product

Use the Retail Barcode Labels app to create unique barcodes for specific products:

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps.

  2. Click Retail Barcode Labels.

  3. Click Create barcodes and then select Create barcodes for specific products.

  4. In the Select products dialog, select the products that you want to create barcodes for and then click Select products:

  5. In the Create barcodes for products dialog, choose one of the following:

    • Only if the product or variant doesn’t have a barcode yet: This generates barcodes for any of your products that don't already have barcodes.
    • Even if the product or variant has a barcode already. Replace any existing barcodes with new ones.: This creates a new barcode for all of the products in your catalog (you can't undo this action).
  6. Click Create barcodes.

You can also create a barcode for a specific product in the following ways:

Create a barcode label template

Barcode templates define the product information that your barcode labels contain. You can design a barcode template in the Retail Barcode Labels app. Smaller template sizes have fewer customization options because of the limited space on the label.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Apps.

  2. Click Retail Barcode Labels.

  3. Click Create template. If you haven't created any templates yet, then click Get started and select one of the following options in the Getting started dialog:

    • Skip: Skip creating barcodes and go directly to the template creation view.
    • Create barcodes: Create barcodes for your products.

  4. Enter a template title.

  5. Select a label type from the Popular label types section, or select Other label types and then choose a paper brand and code:

  6. In the Label attributes section, select the information that you want to include in the label. Click and drag the dots beside an item to change its order on the label.

  7. Click Create template.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

  2. Click a product's name.

  3. Click More actions, and then select Print barcode labels.

  4. Select a label template:

  5. In the Products section, click the product name and then enter the number of labels that you want to print for each variant.

  6. Click Print preview and verify that the barcode layout is correct.

  7. Optional: Click Preview labels to view a preview of each product label.

  8. Optional: Click Download PDF to download a PDF copy of the barcode labels.

  9. Click Send to printer > Print.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

  2. Select the products that you want to create a barcode label for:

  3. Click Actions, and then select Print barcode labels.

  4. Select a label template:

  5. In the Products section, click the product name and then enter the number of labels that you want to print for each variant.

  6. Click Print preview and verify that the barcode layout is correct.

  7. Optional: Click Preview labels to view a preview of each product label.

  8. Optional: Click Download PDF to download a PDF copy of the barcode labels.

  9. Click Send to printer > Print.

Steps:
