Pages

Pages

Shopify stores come with a web page creation tool, which you can use to generate pages containing information that rarely changes, and that customers will use often, such as an 'About Us' page, or a 'Contact Us' page.

You can also add a blog to your online store for content that you'll be updating regularly, or if you want to encourage feedback.

Add a new page to your website

To create a new page:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Pages (or press G W P).

  2. From the pages tab, click the Add page button. You will be taken to a new page template:

    Create page 1

  3. From the page template, enter a Title and Content in the text boxes provided.

    Tip

For SEO purposes, it's smart to be very clear with your page title and description. The page title is displayed in the tab or title bar of the browser. It is also used as the title in search engine results. The page description may be used in search engine results. Learn more about website SEO.

  4. Scroll down to the Visibility field. By default, your new page will be visible.

  5. Select the Hidden option if you want your new page to be hidden on your storefront.

Create page 2

  1. Click Save.

Note

While your page might be visible online, your new page will not appear in your store navigation automatically. You'll need to add a link to it to your store navigation.

Edit a website page

There are two situations in which you might need to edit a page in your store:

  1. You want to modify the content of a page you've created. Even after you've posted content on a page in your store, you can always go back and change it. If you spot a typo or want to add new information, it's easy to edit your page.

  2. You have opened a store and want to edit the default page content. Your store comes with two pages already created for you: "About Us" and "Welcome". If you're setting up your shop for the first time, you will already have a link to the "About us" page in your main navigation. Many shop owners use this default page as an "About" section and add info about themselves and their business.

Note

You can edit the names of these links by going to the Navigation section in your shop admin. You can edit the content of these default pages by following the steps below. If you'd like to delete these pages and start over, you can learn how to delete a page, and then how to add a new page.

To edit a page:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Pages (or press G W P).

  2. Find the page you want to edit in your list of shop pages. Click on the title of the page you want to edit.

  3. Make your changes to the existing page content or settings.

    Edit page 1
  4. Click Save. Visit the page on your storefront to make sure your changes appear.

Add a Google map to a website page

Typically, you'd add a Google map to your About us page to show your retail location, but you can use the same technique for any address you want to show on a website page:

  1. In Google Maps, go to your storefront location.

  2. Click the Share icon in the left navigation area.

  3. Click Embed map to copy your embed code.

    Embed google maps code
  4. Choose the embed size you want, then copy the HTML that begins with <iframe src= (command + c on a Mac, ctrl + c on a PC).

  5. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  6. From your Shopify admin, click Online Store, and then click Pages (or press G W P).

  7. Find your About Us page and click on it. If you don't have an About Us page, click Add page.

  8. In the Content box, switch to the HTML version by clicking the Show HTML button.

    Show html btn
  9. Paste the content of your clipboard into the text box at the end of your already-existing content.

  10. Click the Show Editor button again to preview your map.

  11. Click Save.

Now when you visit your About Us page in your storefront, the Google Map of your location will appear.

Tip

You can embed or link to other types of media in your online store, including videos, gifs, and posts from your WordPress, Tumblr, or Blogger blog.

Publish or unpublish pages in bulk

Using the bulk action drop-down menu, you can easily control the pages that are published to your storefront. This function lets you publish or unpublish many pages at once, which is beneficial if you're coming to Shopify from another ecommerce platform or website, or if you're uploading a series of pre-written documents.
