Syncing products to Facebook for Checkout on Instagram
The product catalog on the Facebook channel manages all products available to Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook Marketing. If you make a product available to the Facebook channel, then it can be used in any of these features. However, when using Checkout on Instagram, there are additional requirements in order to tag your products and have customers check out on Instagram.
Facebook reviews all products that you make available to the Facebook channel. Products must be approved before they can be listed on Facebook. If you edit the product details of any product approved by Facebook, then the product must be reviewed and approved by Facebook again.
To publish your Shopify products in a Facebook catalog and tag them on Instagram, products need to include the following information:
- product description
- product image
- Google Product Categories
- product condition
Products also need to be approved by Facebook, and can't be restricted products as outlined in Facebook's Commerce Policies.
Resolve product publishing errors
When you sync products after you set up Checkout on Instagram, you might have product publishing errors. If your products are missing information that Facebook needs, then you see a warning in the Products section on the Overview page of the Facebook channel. When a product has errors associated with it, you need to resolve those errors before you can try to sync the product again with the Facebook channel.
From your store's Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Facebook.
In the Products section, click View products to open the bulk product editor. Learn how to use the bulk product editor.
Review any publishing errors for products, and make the required changes to product information.
Manage your product catalog
You can add your product catalog from the Shopping page in your Instagram business profile.
- Using Instagram, open your business profile options and then go to the Settings section.
Tap Shopping, and then confirm your Facebook account.
If you don't see the Shopping section, tap Edit Profile and confirm you are connected to your Facebook business page.
Select the yourstore.myshopify.com product catalog.
Common product publishing errors
