Publishing products on Facebook by using Facebook Shop
After you have set up the Facebook Shop sales channel and Facebook has activated the Shop section on your Facebook Page, you can publish product collections to Facebook.
If you're using the Facebook channel, then you can create collections using your available products in your Facebook Commerce Manager.
Products that you make available to Facebook Shop in Shopify appear on the Shop section of your Facebook Page. Changes you make to published products are automatically synced to Facebook. Make sure that you review the Facebook Commerce Merchant Agreement including the Commerce Policies detailing which products are prohibited for sale on Facebook before you begin selling on Facebook.
You can also share your products on Facebook without selling on Facebook.
Product requirements
To appear on Facebook, a product must meet a few requirements:
- it needs to be available to Facebook
- it needs to require shipping, so it can't be a digital product
- it needs to have a return policy
- it needs to have a product title that is less than 100 characters and not in all caps
- it needs to have a product description
- it needs to have a product image
- it needs to be eligible according to Facebook's Commerce Policy and can't be in violation of Facebook's Community Standards
- it can't be free.
Make your products available to the Facebook channel
You can view the products that are available to Facebook Shop by clicking Facebook sales channel > Overview > View products in your Shopify admin.
Steps:
If you don't have any products in your store, then click Add product to add products to your store. If you have products in your store but they aren't available to Facebook Shop, then click Make products available to go to the Products page in your Shopify admin.
Click the name of the product that you want to appear on your Facebook Page.
In the Product availability section of the product details page, click Manage.
In the Manage sales channels availability dialog, check Facebook, and then click Done.
Click Save.
Facebook product status
The Product status section of the Overview page shows the status of products available on the Facebook channel, and indicates if there are any errors. For a list of errors, click View products. Use the information listed in the Issues column to fix any problems with a product.
Hide products from the Facebook channel
From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Collections.
Click the name of the product that you want to hide from Facebook.
On the Product availability section of the product details page, click Manage.
In the Manage sales channels availability dialog, uncheck Facebook, and then click Done.
Click Save.
You can view hidden products on the Facebook Shop > Publishing page in Shopify.
Hidden collections
When you make a collection available to Facebook Shop, Facebook uses it to build a new product catalog for the Shop section. When you hide or delete a product in Shopify, you might still see it on your Facebook Page. In this case, products from the collection are visible only to the owner of the Facebook Page, and customers can't see them. You can delete products in Facebook to remove them from the product catalog.
Change product details
Changes to product details in Shopify are automatically synced to Facebook. You can change how a product's image, title, or price is displayed on Facebook by editing the product in Shopify. You will see your changes appear on Facebook after your products sync, which usually takes a few minutes.
View the products shared with Facebook
For a list of the products available to Facebook, as well as any product errors, go to the Product status section of the Facebook channel in your Shopify admin.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Facebook Shop.
- From the Shopify app, tap Store.
- In the Sales channel section, tap Facebook Shop.
- From the Shopify app, tap Store.
- In the Sales channel section, tap Facebook Shop.
- Click Publishing.
Make your collections available to Facebook Shop
From the Shopify admin, you can view the collections that are available to Facebook Shop on the Facebook Shop > Publishing page. If your store doesn't have any collections, then you can enter "All products" as the collection name to make all your products available Facebook Shop appear on Facebook. You can also create a manual collection specifically for Facebook to control which products appear on your Facebook Page.
You can have a maximum of 50 collections available to Facebook Shop.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Collections.
Click the name of the collection that you want to show on Facebook.
On the Product availability section of the collection page, click Manage.
In the Manage sales channels availability dialog, check Facebook Shop, and then click Done.
Click Save.
Repeat these steps for any other collections that you want to show on your Facebook Page. The featured collection banner on Facebook displays the first 10 products of that collection.
