Managing Shop settings

If you use the Shop channel, then you can manage settings that'll help improve your customer's shopping experience.

Add the Shop channel to Shopify

Customize your Shop profile for Shop

By using the Shop channel, you can customize the following parts of your Shop profile for the Shop app:

  • Logo
  • Cover image
  • Meta description
  • Links to your store URL or contact page
  • Social media links

You can use the Shop channel to view your Shop profile as it will appear to Shop app users.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
  2. Click Customize store.
  3. Make changes to your Shop profile details.
  4. Click Save.

If you don't know why the Shop channel is unavailable to you, then contact Shop support.

Enable Track with Shop

You can enable or disable the option for customers to install the Shop app from the order status page. This doesn't have an effect on whether your Shop profile appears in Shop.

When you have Track with Shop enabled, customers in the following countries see a link to install the Shop app from the order status page on mobile devices:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia

Customers outside these countries won't see the option to install the Shop app on the order status page.

Customers who opt in are prompted to download the Shop iOS or Android app. Once the Shop app is installed, their order information from Shopify stores is automatically synced.

Steps:

  1. From the Shop sales channel, click Settings.
  2. Under Track with Shop, select Manage checkout settings.
  3. Under To receive shipping updates, check or uncheck Customers can download the Shop app from the order status page to enable or disable the option for customers.
  4. Click Save.

Shopping and Discovery settings

Shopping

The Shopping setting manages all the features that let customers purchase from your business. This includes the Shop profile, product detail pages, and checkout. Without this setting, customers can't discover your business or purchase products from you through the Shop app.

If you don't meet the merchant requirements, then you can't use the Shopping setting on Shop. If you're approved to use the Shopping setting, then you also have the option to disable the Shopping setting at any time.

If you're a wholesale merchant, for example you have a wholesale channel or app installed in your store, then you're automatically opted-out from the Shopping setting. However, if you meet the merchant requirements, then you can opt in to use the Shopping setting.

Discovery

The Discovery setting is a feature that lets customers search for and find your Shop profile within the Shop app. You need to be approved for the Shopping setting to enable the Discovery setting.

If you meet the Shop Merchant Guidelines and you have the Shopping and Discovery settings enabled in the Shop sales channel, then your customers can discover your Shop profile and the products in your store from the Explore tab in the Shop app.

By default, you're opted in to Shop search. If you don't want to be discoverable in Shop, then you have the option to disable the Discovery setting. If you opt out of Shop search, then your Shop profile and products are removed from search results and Shop curations, which include local discovery.

Steps:

  1. In the Shop channel, go to Settings.
  2. In the Shopping section, disable Discovery.

Manage product availability

If you're using the Shop channel, then you can use the bulk editor within the channel to manage the products that are available to the Shop app.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
  2. In the Products on Shop section, click Manage product availability to open a bulk editor.
  3. Uncheck the products that you want to hide from Shop.
  4. Click Save.
