Shopping and Discovery settings

Shopping

The Shopping setting manages all the features that let customers purchase from your business. This includes the Shop Store, product detail pages, and checkout. Without this setting, customers can't discover your business or purchase products from you through the Shop app.

If you don't meet the merchant requirements, then you can't use the Shopping setting on Shop. If you're approved to use the Shopping setting, then you also have the option to deactivate the Shopping setting at any time.

If you're a wholesale merchant, for example, and you have a wholesale channel or app installed in your store, then you're automatically opted out from the Shopping setting. However, if you meet the merchant requirements, then you can opt in to use the Shopping setting.

Each of your product detail pages on Shop displays shipping information, such as shipping cost, expected delivery time, and pick up options, if available. Shipping facts are based on the shipping settings in your Shopify admin, and can't be customized.

Discovery

The Discovery setting is a feature that lets customers search for and find your Shop Store within the Shop app. You need to be approved for the Shopping setting to activate the Discovery setting.

If you meet the Shop Merchant Guidelines and you have the Shopping and Discovery settings activated in the Shop channel, then your customers can discover your Shop Store and the products in your store from the Search tab in the Shop app.

By default, you're opted in to Shop search. If you don't want to be discoverable in Shop, then you have the option to deactivate the Discovery setting. If you opt out of Shop search, then your Shop Store and products are removed from search results and Shop curations, which include local discovery.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. In the Shopping section, deactivate Discovery.

Manage collections availability

If you're using the Shop channel, then you can manage the collections that are available through the Shop app. To appear on Shop, collections need to have an image and at least one approved product.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Sales channels > Shop.
  2. Click Collections.
  3. Select the collections that you want to appear in Shop, or deselect the collections that you want to hide from Shop.
  4. Click Save.

Customers using the Shop app can use the augmented reality (AR) viewer to virtually interact with your products. By adding 3D models to your products, your customers can visualize how your product might look and fit in their space.

3D models in Shop are built to the specifications supplied by your 3D modeling process, and can't be edited in your Shopify admin or in the Shop app. Learn more about 3D modeling guidelines.

When you add a 3D model to your products in the admin, the 3D model is automatically added to your product listing in Shop. Learn how to add a 3D model to a product.
